anyone can easily hear the progress made on this tune by listening to the later recording, which is far superior in every way.Carmichael was almost brought to tears by this ---his first record of one of his own creation. Hoagey said after meeting this band he resolved to write something for them---and Bix suggested, and got, the name change to "Riverboat Shuffle" It's strange but Carmichael called the opening phrase "beautiful"
