Taking their name from the classic Beatles track, BlackByrd are in the process of turning adult-contemporary pop convention on its head, thanks to Lamb's new-found talent as a critical songwriter. "We've all grown, as people and entertainers," Lamb says. "We're artists now, and loving every minute."
Since January 2012, BlackByrd, along with promoter and music-industry veteran Mike Fuller as manager, have been creating a body of work that will be released as 13-track debut album this September.

But people are starting to stare
Called from afar to the court of the Czar
Could it be something is wrong?
You stand face to face and your heart gathers pace
For the answer to a question a prize
If only you had known to be honest was wrong
For the work that you've done you, it will pay with your eyes
Into the black where the night never ends
And the light leaves a scar on your soul
Where your heart used to hold your love here
Heaven in black
Inside there's a voice saying was there a choice?
You'd still be entombed in the night
Lucifer's to blame, the reason for the flame
They've taken your sight but they'll not take your God
Don't be afraid to an
Into the black where the night never ends
And the light leaves a scar on your soul
Where your heart used to hold your love here
Heaven in black
Into the black where the night never ends
And the light leaves a scar on your soul
Where your heart used to hold your love here
Into the black where the night never ends
And the light leaves a scar on your soul
Where your heart used to hold your love here
Heaven in black
The lyrics to BlackByrd's song You're The Reason Why tell a story that is open to interpretation, as many great songs often do. The opening lines suggest a sense of fulfillment and achievement, as the singer rises with the sun and the work has been done. However, people are starting to stare, indicating that perhaps this sense of contentment is not shared by everyone. The following lines suggest a change of pace, as the singer is called from afar to the court of the Czar, and there is a sense that something is wrong. The next lines indicate that the singer is about to face a significant challenge, as they stand face-to-face with someone, and their heart is pounding in anticipation of the answer to a question.
However, the next lines reveal that the singer's honesty and hard work may have come at a high cost. The work that they've done will pay with their eyes, indicating some form of punishment or retribution. The singer is then urged not to be afraid to an unknown destination, into the black where the night never ends, and the light leaves a scar on your soul. The last few lines suggest that the singer may have lost faith in love or humanity, as their heart was where they used to hold their love, but it is no longer there. Finally, the singer is urged to find heaven in black, perhaps suggesting that they have to find a sense of peace or resolution in a dark or unorthodox place.
