For The Good Times
Black Judah Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't look so sad
I know it's over
But life goes on
And this old world will keep on turning
Let's just be glad
We had some time to spend together
There's no need to watch the bridges
That were burning

Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the rain drops
Blowing soft against the window
And make believe you love me
One more time
For the good times

I'll get along
You'll find another
And I'll be here
If you should find you ever need me
Don't say a word about tomorrow
Or forever
There'll be time enough for sadness
When you leave me

Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the rain drops
Blowing soft against the window

And make believe you love me
One more time

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are from Black Judah's song, "For the Good Times." The singer is addressing someone they have had a relationship with, informing them that the relationship is over. The singer acknowledges that life goes on and that they should be glad that they had some time together. In the first verse, the singer tries to comfort the person by telling them that they don't need to watch the bridges that were burning when they were together. The singer suggests that they forgive each other and move on instead of dwelling on the past.

In the second verse, the singer tells the person to lay their head on their pillow, holding each other close. The sound of raindrops against the window creates a sense of melancholy and a desire to reconnect. The singer asks the person to make them believe that they love each other one more time. The last lines of the song reveal the singer’s heartfelt desire for the other person to find happiness with someone else.

Overall, this song is about the realization that a relationship has ended, but trying to hold onto the positive memories and cherishing the time that was spent together. It’s also about accepting the end and looking toward the future.

One of my favorite memories involves this song.

My brother and I were young and both recently single. Just a couple of aimless, sad guys.

Coming home one night, the conversation had run dry and we turned on the radio. This song started playing.

We just wordlessly listened, paying attention to every note. When it finally ended, we sat for a couple seconds in more silence. Then, exactly at the same time, we looked at each other and said “that sucked!”

True story.

Still remember the day of my step in mother's memorial thanks to this song.
I say memorial because even the moment I was told + .. I just could? not../did not..want to believe? ..
It hadn't hit me til I was on my way there and this song played on the radio.
It was just seconds after song had started..then... it all hit at once.
I didn't want to stop driving.
I just wanted to keep going.
Not the greatest relationship growing up but most definitely best I knew. She not only took me in at a very young age but my siblings as well.
This song not only made me regret not saying all I wish I could've and wish i couldve been a better me and take advantage of all things kids? do with and share with their parents as years pass. After turning the adult age things just changed. -
But still.
This song. Made me.. appreciate the part of my life I got to share with her, thanks to her.
At the memorial ceremony/celebration.. my siblings and I were all present but..not acknowledged infront of her entire family.. even after 15 years of having been adopted. 💔❤️

Crazy to read all types of different- meaningful stories/feelings this song brings to people. ❤️❤️

Maybe I'm the only person. This is a song so dedicated to God I'm shocked I didn't notice when I was lost in the world. No surprise. I'd give back all these things I've gained without you by my side just to have more time with you. Notice the subtle finger to the sky at the end. God works in mysterious ways. Yes the band title should have given it away I just thought about that. But feeling God's lovingkindness radiating in my life has changed the way I look at music. May all who listen to this song receive blessings in abundance and a graceful touch from Jesus. Seek to know the one who gave all for us to have the opportunity to get to know him.

Random Fact: I played basketball at Cookeville with him. We were good friends and he showed me how to play the guitar. I still see his parents around Cookeville. They are amazing people and down to earth.
