Dance with Me
Bluehorses Lyrics

And bring with you your train
See here how the moon does waste
And now it starts to wane
Come you night hags with your charms
A revelling witch away
And hold me closely in your arms
Dance with me, hand in hand
Through the wild wood and the down
For i crave one kiss from your clay cold lips
As the twilight turns to rain
Dance with Me .....
A lunacy I will endure as reason's gone away
I call to Epona for a cure, i know not what to say
the beauty that I now endure will treat me with distain
and I wont see him any more and i shall bear my pain
Strange thoughts now fill my head while standing in dispair
I am to the desert lads, you find me standing there
I think he sits upon a cloud I see him up on high
To him now I shout aloud and try and reach the sky
Dance with me....
Dance with me....
In "Dance With Me," Bluehorses conjure up a haunting tale of a protagonist who inexplicably yearns for the King of Ghosts to take her on a dance through the wild wood and the down. The song begins with the King of Ghosts being summoned with urgency, as the moon starts to wane. The singer also calls for night hags to join in the revelry and to beg the day to stay. She is willing to endure lunacy as her reason has abandoned her. In search of a cure, she calls on the goddess Epona, but is weighed down by her pain, because she will not see the one she desires. Still, she stands among the desert lads, staring up at the sky, shouting out to him as she craves a single kiss from his "clay cold lips."
The song's lyrics embrace the supernatural with the King of Ghosts, night hags, and a protagonist who has given herself over to lunacy in the hopes of attracting a lover. The song structure enhances the eerie and otherworldly atmosphere, with the lead singer's voice ratcheting up the intensity with each verse. The energy of the song comes to a crescendo with the singer's plea to "Dance with me," repeated twice for added emphasis.
