Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively in character as lead vocalist "Joliet" Jake Blues and harpist/vocalist Elwood Blues, fronted the band, which was composed of well-known and respected musicians. The band made its debut as the musical guest on the April 22, 1978, episode of "Saturday Night Live".
The band then began to take on a life beyond the confines of the television screen, releasing their debut album, "Briefcase Full of Blues", in 1978, and subsequently having a Hollywood film, "The Blues Brothers" (and associated soundtrack album, "The Blues Brothers: Original Soundtrack Recording""), created around its characters in 1980.
1980 also saw the release of their second album "Made in America". It was the last recording the band would make with Belushi's "Jake Blues".
After the death of Belushi in 1982, the "Blues Brothers" have continued to perform with a rotation of guest singers and other band members. The original band reformed in 1988 for a world tour and again in 1998 for a sequel to the original film, "Blues Brothers 2000". It makes regular appearances at musical festivals worldwide.

Think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free
Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on back when
I didn't even know you, you couldn't too much more than ten
I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degrees
It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me
Yeah, think (think, think) let your mind go, let yourself be free
Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom
Think about it, think about it
There ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you but I won't (I won't)
I was gonna change, but I'm not, to keep doing things I don't
You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free
People walking around everyday, playing games taking score
Trying to make other people lose their minds, ah, be careful you don't lose yours
You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free
You need me (need me) and I need you (don't you know)
Without each other there ain't nothing people can do
Think about it baby
The classic blues-rock song "Think" by The Blues Brothers featuring Aretha Franklin has lyrics that speak to the importance of introspection and personal empowerment. The opening lines, "You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free" convey a sense of urgency to the listener, imploring them to take a step back and evaluate their actions and intentions. Franklin's soulful vocals emphasize this message, further emphasizing the need for personal reflection in the face of external pressures.
As the song progresses, the theme of self-exploration and empowerment is reinforced through lines like "there ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you but I won't (I won't), I was gonna change, but I'm not, to keep doing things I don't." Here, the singer is taking control of their own life and agency, refusing to compromise their own values and priorities in the face of external pressure or expectations.
Finally, the repeated refrain of "Freedom, freedom, freedom" further emphasizes the idea of personal empowerment and the importance of self-determination. The song as a whole advocates for taking control of one's own life, making space for introspection, and being unapologetically true to oneself.

I love how Blue Lou kept his sax on hand, because you never know when you might have a spontaneous musical event happen in a diner. He was a true professional.

The sax accompaniment really takes this version to another level. If you listen to the original you really miss it.
