Something really strange about this case, and it has nothing to do with kayaking in my opinion. The drain plug doesn't make that much difference, come on guys, think about it, plenty of people forget the drain plug, I certainly have, makes almost no difference, it's on top FFS, and they certainly don't sink in under 10 minutes under normal use ..... I have no idea what context the Cops offered that in, maybe while being held underwater?

Broken paddles happen occasionally, again, not a big drama, and they are wide kayaks, so I don't really believe that either. Some actually prefer a single paddle, as I am sure you have all seen.

When I was watching this I was mighty confused surrounding the kayak, didn't make sense, then something else struck me that does make sense, and is a better fit ...

Someone else was on the island, and killed him on her behalf. That would explain her "euphoria" and cool demeanor afterwards, they couldn't get her to talk because not only did she not do it, she may not have even seen it, just playing her role after the matter. So body gets thrown into the water, hence why it was found still there close by, and of course the kayak was taken out and sunk intentionally, all to get rid of him, and to get the insurance money.

So I opine that they got the right person, but with the wrong scenario, and there may be a third, even forth person/s involved.

Let me get this straight :
1. She is about to be thrown out of the apartment by her FIANCE (like, what? A good way to start a marriage, for sure).
2. She doesn't want to be bar tending any more.
3. Living off the guy's money is lovely, she can do yoga, kayaking and volunteer.
4. She has a plan, she knows about the insurance.
5. She invites / challenges the guy to go kayaking in poor weather by wearing something sexy, possibly promising sex on that island?
6. She unscrews the plug OR knowingly omits putting it back in where it should be for safety reasons.
7. Takes safety ring off the paddle.
8. 'Forgets' to take her life vest, knowing that Vince would give up his.
9. Knows Vince isn't very good at paddling / isn't fit enough for these choppy waters.
10. Goes out with him, sees him drown, waits to make sure he doesn't resurface.
11. Calls 911
12. Doesn't have brains to act along a bit longer, forgets to act distressed and upset at his death.
13. Tells cops about the plug HERSELF????!!

In my opinion, it was premeditated, as she must have been quite sure about the missing plug having this dangerous effect, because her own plug was in place in her own kayak. She didn't flip over, but Vince did. Vince couldn't paddle either (paddle brojen), no life jacket. He dies.

Very clever murder, worthy of Agatha Christie.

Summary of the video in case you don’t want to watch the whole thing:
- She called 911 to get help for her fiancée who was drowning. Investigators said she waited few minutes before she called 911.
-she confessed to his murder to one of the detectives on the island
-she hired a good team of lawyers who cost her
$542 000 which was her fiancée’s life insurance money she signed off to her lawyers.
-she only gets 32 months in jail
-she gets away with murder

So she kills him, she gets life insurance money, she uses that life insurance money to hire good lawyers to get her out of this mess and she walks free after 32 months. Money money money 💰 show a lawyer money and he does everything he can to get you out,

@Snoglydox
Exactly.
If it was like the cop said (I have no reason not to believe him) that was even first degree murder.. she made choices and hat lots of opportunities to remember that killing someone is WRONG.
What she did is not like tempering with the brakes on a car, if you do that, the one who drives the car COULD get hurt or killed, if she took out the plug AND manipulated his paddle he wasn't "endangered" of getting harmed, he didn't stand a chance and she KNEW that.

But the reality is also that it would have been near to impossible to PROOF that she did those thing.
Yes, they found his kayak without a plug and the ring missing on his paddle.
But they also found him without a life jacket so even for this lawyer it would have been way to easy to get to the jury and make them think twice if this is a case where it is "proven beyond a reasonable doubt that SHE did these things to kill him or that he just made those mistakes himself.

I also don't think that it would have been easy to convince the jury that money was her motive..
I don't see a person that cares that muh about money.
I see a girl that is unbelievable immature, self centered and not at all able to grasp that she can't just do stuff like that to "feel free".

I don't know her, so I am not entitled to claim any insight..
But if she has a new partner anytime I would advise that person to sleep with open eyes, always lock doors carefully, never drive a car without checking brakes and stuff..

When I see how she acts and talks I get the impression that she did not understand at all that she just murdered an innocent person and seemingly without a real motive...
That concerns me way more as any gold digger would and makes me thing that she is incredible dangerous.

The mom said, “He wasn’t always an angel.” Finally! Someone who is honest. Lol.

Most humans aren't angels. To begin with, we don't have wings on our backs. But it doesn't stop there...

Right most moms don’t….. we love our kids but they need to be held accountable for their actions

Fr every single case the murder victim is like this angel who would never do such thing and would lighten up the mood everywhere they walked in and they could just make ur day by smiling i doubt that happened i mean to some it might but to every single murder victim? Nah im sorry but that's bullshit lol

This lawyer is evil, cold-hearted and obsessed with success. There's no amount of success, fortune or attention that would enable me to defend such vile atrocities... and to do it in such a manner as he has, that's the cherry on top.

Part1

@Seano Mac no life jacket in cold windy conditions, he kinda was responsible too
