Wow I miss those days. Back in the days the racine guinen was very popular. I was 7 or 8 years old I think when this song was released and listening to it today I still have chills. I guess The guinen flows in my veins.

For everyone whoz asking what type of music this is. This is Racine. But it was made for Kanaval. The lead singer had left Boukman Experience and form his own band. The year before Boukman had their saying "Pa pale nan zafe moun yo". So this was a comeback song saying "Pale pale'w" which is the opposite of what Boukman song said the year prior. It's good kanaval politic. Love Haiti's Carnival or Mardi Gras, it gives the youth something excited to look for every year among other things.

Man, Eddy Francois was so skinny. I got to be on stage with him during a concert that year he had behind Lycee Petion. It is been so long. Holy moly, I am old. I was just 5 years when he made this masterpiece.

Before Zapzap, Raram or any rara for that matter were allowed in the main carnival. Boukan Ginen, Boukman Eksperyans were all you had if you wanted to listen to our African roots during the Carnival. That's also before all the VooDoo people got in like Azor, Ram, and the other garbage. Boukan Ginen was the truth. I listen to this track like some people listen to Lose Yourself as I get ready to challenge the day.

The consciousness in this song. The shots at the government. Reminding the people that they have ears to hear, eyes to see and mouths so they must speak. Even in 2003, 2004, this song remained the track the people play when they get tired, when they are ready to say enough. Whenever something was boiling then, that track was playing at a few places. I miss Home!

Oh and hands down, he was a better musician than Barnabé but I think Barnabé got more fame because of his father. If you don't know Barnabé's dad, your Haitian DNA has been reclaimed! Thank you for the consideration, but we will have to take a hard pass on you. Unless you just did not know he was Barnabe's dad. Funniest comedian of all time TD aka Mr. L.D. I will leave at that.
