This piece popped up on Sirius XM Real Jazz this Summer as I was doing a solo 4 wheeling trip in the mountains outside of Leadville, Colorado. I heard the original many times, but Auger's version blew my mind. I hadn't seen another soul all day, as I ascended up the steep, rocky trails, all the while surrounded by snowy peaks. I felt like I landed on a planet on a far away galaxy and I was the only survivor.

For What it's Worth - This is an amazing instrumental song - My older Brother "Wayne the Wave", god rest his soul, loved the fuck out of Brian Auger, his music and his Hammond Organ. I fell in love with Brian as well after my Brother Wayne introduced me to his wonderful music. My Uncle Glenn was the head Pianist of the Australian Symphony Orchestra as well as the ABC Orchestra and so on, just this wonderful person and the most brilliant musical songwriting genius in his own right. Glenn loved the sound of the the Hammond Organ. He would play songs like this one for us when we were young, me Wayne and Couson John as close to the bone as you could possibly get to Brian Auger's Melodies. I am very thankful that this music shall always be with me and my Brother Wayne "So Amazing" It's as Simple as that...

This is one of the many tunes I heard from "DETROIT'S ONLY WJZZ" cruising down I-75 south bound around Troy; that's when the station would kick in clear. Especially summer time, top down , or windows down radio blasting to a mellow groove. Well WJZZ no long exists, but the memories and the tunes surely do. I've got my one personal playlist from DETROIT'S own Original Jazz station.

Kim, I TOTALLY AGREE. WJZZ in Detroit was the most awesome Jazz station ever. It's where I came to appreciate the jazz artists and their individual styles of playing. Terry Callier, Freddie Hubbard, Weather Report, Hank Crawford, Grover Washington, John Klemmer and of course, Wes Montgomery. Just a continuous flow of talented artists 24hrs a day. For Motown Music, WJLB. For contemporary, CKLW broadcasting 100K watts out of Canada. Those were the days!!

Still awesome to me.   Saw Brian and Oblivion Express at Case in Cleveland OH in 73.  Stood outside for 2 hours waiting to get it this SMALL venue...it was about -10 degrees.....Golden Earring opened...they were ok, but could not compare to this guy and group. Such talent and I asked him on his web site a couple of years ago if he wrote these songs and he answered me personally (surprised me) and he did write them.  Happiness is just around the bend and Whenever you're ready will always be my favorites.  I for sure blew out my speakers on  Happiness.....Bless you and your talented family Brian:)

Yes it is wonderful isn't it... My vinyl copy is in a state of poor repair - it was when I bought it second hand in the late seventies for a dollar but now side two has two tracks that are unplayable....  Brian Auger is a sadly under appreciated figure from the British music scene.

And yes, sometimes it is hardly understandable how almost every fool can become popular, and how at the same time so many of the real great artists are so shamingly underrated. - Mr. Auger is still active and still Plays fantastic Shows, with his son on drums and his daughter on vocals
