wow....a blast from the past....whatta great band & my favorite album!

John LaStrada

Still a great band but this album doesn't hold a candle to "Despite It All" or the first "Brinsley Schwartz" album. I don't know...same basic musicians, singers, but the inspiration, edge and melodies were not here on "Silver Pistol." Even with the addition of Ian Gomm who is a great musician. There is no "Country Girl," "Slow One," or "Funk Angel" on this collection. None. I was hoping "Nervous on the Road" would be an improvement but it didn't happen. More covers. By the time they got to "Please Don't Ever Change," the first two albums remained the only ones of interest. Others may have thought so too -- because the final album was a "best of..." and that usually spells: The End. Too bad, those first two albums were incredible. Haven't heard much from Brinsley solo either. Even their drummer Billy Rankin had a solo album.
