I"ve been searching for this version a long time. The band really swings here, compared to all the other versions that sound really stiff, specially the trumpets and the bones, and in this version a wonderful trumpet solo by one of the greatest underrated jazz soloists of all times DON FAGERQUIST made my day. LOVE IT.

I have been looking for this version forever, more than 30 years, no one ever believed there was another version, especially the trumpet solo. thank you.
Brian King
such clarity for a recording made so long ago....i cant stop tapping my feet,..really swings and as a pianist, i loved the piano solo with a great band intro to it......
Robert Chamberlain
I was 10 when this version came out .love the bouncy beat .
James Green
this is a sick version. i only heard ella & louis before. this is classically perfect!
David Wesley
ALL time favorite 1940's instrumental.
Tony Curcio
The absolute best there is!
1976MonaLisa
Yes! This is the version I was looking for. Thank you!
Damian Desmond
Les Brown: best band ever! The trumpets and piano "speak!" Plus he's cute as hell! Love Kitty Kalen, also! I can deal with Les, Kitty, and Van Halen, all at once. I multi-task. Hah! Thanks, GREAT song! VTY- Mr. Desmond

William Magliocco
This isn't the Capitol 1959 (approx) session...was this the Coral (US Decca) version from the mid-1950's? I know the Capitol version was recorded in gorgeous stereo.
Coop '39
Definitely the Decca version

@William Magliocco No argument from me, William! As much as I'm a fan of what Dave Pell did over his career, I'd take Ted Nash's tenor in a heartbeat!
William Magliocco
@jrgreiner It's good, don't get me wrong. I just like the 1959 version better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGp6_ChJ7pA

I'd guess mid 50's as that's Dave Pell on the tenor solo. Not sure but is sure sounds like Fagerquist on the tpt. solo.

Anyone know who was in the band?
