Oh how I love my tea
Tea in the afternoon
I can't do without it
And I think I'll have
Another cup very soon

Overall Meaning

Brown Sam's song "Tea" is an ode to the simple but essential pleasures of enjoying a cup of tea. The singer expresses their love for tea, particularly in the afternoon, and admits they can't do without it. The lyrics convey the singer's eagerness for another cup, indicating the soothing and comforting effect that tea can have. This interpretation is reinforced by the tone of the song, which is gentle and relaxed, evoking the atmosphere of a cozy afternoon tea time.

The song is a celebration of the culture around tea drinking, as well as the sensory experience of it. The lines "Oh how I love my tea" and "I can't do without it" emphasize the importance of tea for the singer, while also hinting at a general sentiment of tea being an essential part of daily life. It's interesting to note that the song doesn't go into specific types of tea, but rather just focuses on the ritual and pleasure of drinking it. This suggests a universality to the enjoyment of tea, as well as a desire to avoid limiting the song’s meaning to a specific audience or culture.

When I saw her in concert at Leeds City Varieties club way back, this track was requested by the audience. For those who may have doubted her abilities her rendition was spot on! Sadly her singing career stopped after her throat problems and surgery and a further concert I'd booked to see was cancelled and never rescheduled. One of a few artists who don't automatically sing in a generic style and you get to hear her accent which adds something to the songs.

she has a new album coming, but she admitted the vocals weren't like they used to be!

What miserable git gave this a thumbs down? Sam Brown is such an underrated and overlooked singer. Clearly she has a great sense of humour as well.
