Promises, Promises actually means - is he (or she) telling me the truth or not? Am I getting the full story or not? And in the show, pretty much everyone is bending the truth. Promising one thing, but not delivering. Promises, Promises is really all about someone who suddenly has the courage to move on, and out of, a toxic relationship. Fran is having a relationship with Mr. Sheldrake, and not telling Chuck. Mr. Sheldrake isn't telling his wife and about Fran. Fran is lying to Chuck about Mr. Sheldrake. Chuck is letting his apartment to all the guys, to get ahead at work - and not telling their wives, or Fran what he knows. This is a way more complex show that it first appears.
