Formed in the wake of a drunken evening spent producing the Cibo Matto single "Know Your Chicken", Butter 08's demo was passed by Simmons to Beastie Boy Mike D, who immediately signed the supergroup to his Grand Royal label; their debut LP, Butter, followed in 1996.
