With his own recording studio and production company, T.P.A Music, Levent has caused quite a stir over the past few years. Providing an irresistible mixture of Latin styles, house beats and tasteful jazz vibes, Levent has created a trademark sound that keeps on fascinating both DJ’s and dance floors. With a sound that works perfectly along side label mates Boris Dlugosch and Mousse T, Can7 fits perfectly into the Peppermint Jam roster.
Tracks such as “Windjammer” and “Crusin” made it onto a number of compilations and are typical of Can 7’s style. Remix work for the likes of Moloko, Sonique, Ofra Haza, Randy Crawford, Levitation and Ricky Martin has established Can 7’s name on international dance floors. Peppermint Jams successful C.D. release “Destination Rio” mixed and compiled by Can 7, showed yet another dimension to his musical talents.
Levent was born in 1964 in Turkey and claims he was “born as a musician”. A long-term musical education and experience in playing several instruments - bass, guitar, keyboards and percussion make Levent a ‘real musician’. This is one of the reasons why Can 7’s remix work carries the reputation for adding a new dimension to a song.
Another reason for Can 7’s success is the fact that he works with such talented people. With the extraordinary vocals of Angela Caran and accomplished multi-instrumentalist Xavier Fischer (of Xavier Fischer Trio and Smoke City fame) the team effort of Can 7’s tracks really pay off. Can 7’s long-term studio partner Guido Craviero, another gifted songwriter and musician, make this winning combination complete.
Levent’s vast vinyl collection, broad musical taste, impressive musical background and a healthy dose of eclecticism make every Can 7 DJ set something very special. Levent’s first long player is due to be released in early 2002 on Peppermint Jam. Listening to the rough mixes it is evident that this album will be something quite amazing and should bring Can7 the recognition and credit he deserves.

Try talking to you
While you do, while you do
I swap places with you
Just to see things through
Just sing me the tune
And you'll see
I'll keep it here for you
I'll wait for your cue
You wrote down all the words
Black and white
On a wall
Just keepin' it so
Yeah you know how it goes
No plans for a change, nothing strange
No not today no way
Now sing me the tune
Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway
So you twist and you turn
Uncomfortable fool, you'll never learn
But you can take a stand
Forget all about the plans California rose
Side one track two
On a record of you
I've even stuck on a groove
That I don't wanna lose
Just play it again, as a friend
It's your favorite worn-in shoes
Now sing me the tune
Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah
Never needed any of it anyway
So you crash, and you burn
Sometimes the road will twist and turn
Some of this, less of that
Forget all about the map California road
Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway
Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah
Never needed any of it anyway
Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway
Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

Love this song man, been listening to this for well over a decade now. Its just a perfect, uplifting, vibey tune. There's just something about Zero 7 songs in general that I love, the layers of complexity, the melodies, the bass and the great singing. Their first three albums are timeless for me.

Never get tired of it. It’s like I’m playing guitar in my dreams every memory of growing up in California comes back…it’s my favorite worn out shoes! ❤️🙏🤷🏼♀️

My best friend worked at TGI Fridays for the summer in 2007 and this song would always come on and we'd jam when I'd visit him. I looked into the band and got hooked on Zero 7. All these years later we are jamming "Mono" and still revisit the summer of 2007 when we were high school seniors with no cares or worries.

Hell Yeah! No idea how you ended up in my list but I'm glad you did!

That beautiful song brings me back to Santa Cruz, CA when in 2016, in a middle of working flight, I took a break and went to Cowells Beach to try surfing longboards again, after a 50 years gap. It was wonderful and for an entire afternoon I was out of this (sometimes miserable) world...
