Candid, New York, USA
Hailing from the frozen bit of hell that is Syracuse, New York, the boys of Candid spew a buzzing brand of rock that is equal parts youthful spark and upstate bitterness. The band cites influences that run the gamut, from Weezer's unstoppable melodies and the soaring atmosphere of Radiohead to Elvis Costello's sharp lyrical jabs and the gritty intimacy of Ani DiFranco.
In their six years as a band, Candid has developed an intensely loyal following that thrives on long nights and a strong sense of community. Since getting together in late 1998, vocalist Corey Paige, guitarist J.P. Midgley, bassist Mike Spadaro and drummer Sean Benz have left a trail of awards and converts wherever they've gone. The band has played the northeast extensively and appeared with numerous national and overseas acts, including Fountains of Wayne, Tonic, Vertical Horizon, Andrew W.K. and Strangefolk. Honors Candid has received include Syracuse Area Music awards in 2002 for Best Rock Band and Best Rock Vocalist, 2004 for Best Rock Recording (2003's "A Comforting Thought"), and first place finishes in nearly every competition they have entered.
With hundreds of performances and four independent recordings to their credit, Candid has established a voice that is clear, honest and self-aware. Honors Candid has received include Syracuse Area Music awards in 2002 for Best Rock Vocalist and Best Rock Band/Recording (Crooked Things), 2004 for Best Rock Recording (A Comforting Thought), and first place finishes in nearly every competition they have entered. Candid recently released their fifth independent effort, "Misinterpreter".

Where Have You Been
Candid Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Candid, where you been?
I ain't seen you in a while!
And, you know
My answer's usually
Deletin' all the code
That erodes my my veins
Deletin' all the code
I, I've been in pain
Grateful for the push to change
I, I've been in pain
Cause numbin' don't hit the same (yeah)
Real life been treatin' me real right
So I just don't feel like
I gotta fight these digital insights
Let the pixels fly in the fringe (fly)
Catch me off the grid (grid)
These butterfly effect winds (yeah)
Produce enough spins (yeah)
(Yeah)
Today I have to say
What a great space I'm in (okay)
Feeling grand as the Canyon in AZ
I'll admit
Finding new species within me
Like Galapagos genes
Gullah Gullah Island on my mind
My inner child feels serene (okay)
I really hate how screens
Flood my daily lately (lately)
I justify the use
Cause all it sells is proof of maybes (maybes)
It makes me hazy and angry
Despite the positives
The downfall is crazy obvious, huh
Human prerogative
Fluidity is key
As I float on these beats
Taking the zeroes and the ones
Shape shifting to green
So gifted with a return policy
For your honesty
A novelty in a world
That thrives on straight up robbery
My rock is me, moving myself
Like Krusty Krab delivery
The ops can see
I'm packing more than industry artillery
Come into the light
This ain't the last time that you'll hear from me
I'm coming for auxiliaries
Come feel with me through imagery
Deletin' all the code
That erodes my my veins
Deletin' all the code
That implodes my gains
I, I've been in pain
Grateful for the push to change
I, I've been in pain
Cause numbin' don't hit the same (yeah)
Real life been treating me real right (real right)
So I just don't feel like (feel like)
I gotta fight these digital insights
Let the pixels fly in the fringe (fly)
Catch me off the grid
These butterfly effect winds (I'm gone)
Produce enough spins, uh
Resonance gives me relevance
In tune with the heaviest
Messages that I carry (carry)
But knowing can be so scary (scary)
I'm a powerful concoction of goddess
Usually modest (modest)
But I gotta take my place as a warrior
Only option is to
Address the toxic fumes
I spew when doom entombs my dome (my dome)
Complexities compete within
Increase my highs and lows (highs and lows)
Erratically avoiding static in my attic (attic)
Some attachments have me acting unbalanced
And reeking havoc (havoc)
Passionate smart aleck
Dynamic in my ambitions
Stay doin' what I do best
Never lookin' for your permission
Emissions from other people
Feel lethal to my generous spirit
Don't get offended when I pivot
I'm just driven
Can't flood my engine
Said good riddance to all the ways
I was pavin' my own dismay
While prayin' for greener days
I burned it all into grey
But the rain heals my rage
Bringin' a wave that ya'll desperately crave
So self made, yeah
I've been deletin' all the code
That erodes my my veins (yeah)
Deletin' all the code
That implodes my gains
I, I've been in pain
Grateful for the push to change (grateful, grateful)
I, I've been in pain
Cause numbin' don't hit the same, yeah
Real life been treatin' me real right
(yeah)
So I just don't feel like
(yeah)
I gotta fight these digital insights
Let the pixels fly in the fringe (fly)
Catch me off the grid (grid)
These butterfly effect winds
Produce enough spins, yeah
