human
Carpark North Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're so right and you don't think you're wrong
You're not on the list and you're in my songs
I did right to walk and just leave you there
Cause no one can stand your fear of fear

You're so wrong, and still think you're right
I was too old to pick that fight
And I take you touch, just changed your day
I broke off with you cause you didn't change me

Yeah! Yes it's human
It's just human
You noticed
Yeah! Yeah just human
Did you notice?
Damn right

You're so right and you don't think you're wrong
You're not on the list, you're not in my songs
I did right to walk and just leave you there
Cause no one can stand your fear of fear

Yeah. Yes it's human
Yes it's human
You noticed

Yeah! Yes it's human
It's just human
You noticed
Yeah! Your just human

Did you notice?
Damn right!

Overall Meaning

In Carpark North's song "Human," the lyrics speak to the complexity of human relationships and the idea that we all have flaws and imperfections that make us human. The first verse describes someone who believes they are always right and even though they are not included in the singer's life, they still make an appearance in their songs. The singer had to walk away from this person because their fear of fear was incapable of being tolerated by anyone.

The second verse talks about the other person feeling just as strongly that they are right, but the singer was able to let go of the fight because they were too old to engage in it. The singer realized that they could not remain in the relationship, despite the other person's touch that changed their day, because they didn't change the singer themselves.

The repeated chorus emphasizes the idea of human imperfection and the inevitability of making mistakes. It's human to have flaws and we should all recognize and accept that in ourselves and others.

Overall, the song conveys a message about the limitations of human nature and accepting the imperfections that come with it in order to move on and grow as individuals.

To me the music video has always been about growing up. It's a graphical representation of how much growing up is a tiring process, you will have fun, you will cry, you will show off, you'll face barriers, it's confusing, it's tiring. I particularly like 1:41 - 1:49 it communicates me how that at some point in life unexplainable barriers between people appear, whereas when you're a kid you're friends with everyone.
