Don't Know What To Do
CeCe Peniston Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't know what to do
Cause I'm still so into you
I know we said we were through
Don't know what to do
I don't know what to do
Cause I'm still so into you
And I know you feel it too
Don't know what to do
Said our goodbyes
We both agreed to just be friends
But there's something inside
That makes me think again
CHORUS
Pain's gone away
I can finally get it off my mind
But the minute I see your face
My emotions take over
Every part of me says one more time
CHORUS
BRIDGE:
I wish you would go far away
So I can get you out of my mind
If I continue to see you everyday
I'll want you by my side
The lyrics to Cece Peniston's song "Don't Know What to Do" talk about the struggle of trying to move on from a past love. The chorus repeatedly emphasizes the singer's confusion about what to do because despite the fact that they have ended their relationship, they are still strongly attracted to each other. The lines "Cause I'm still so into you/And I know you feel it too/Don't know what to do" show that both parties are still struggling to let go of their feelings even though they have decided to just be friends.
The singer in the song details their journey of trying to move on from the relationship, stating that they have said goodbye, agreed to just be friends, and even reached a point where they had put the pain behind them. However, their emotions are triggered every time they see their ex, and they feel like they want one more chance. The line "My emotions take over/Every part of me says one more time" shows the internal battle they experience between their mind and heart.
In the bridge, the singer expresses a desire for distance from their ex, hoping that by being apart, they can finally move on. The line, "I wish you would go far away/So I can get you out of my mind", shows their frustration with being reminded of the past every time they see the person they used to love.
Overall, the song captures the emotional complexity of letting go of a former love, and the internal struggle that can occur even after a decision to move on has been made.
