Before going solo, Robison was in the bands Chaparral, Millionaire Playboys, and Two Hoots and a Holler. At one point, Robison was on Warner Brothers, but apparently did not see eye to eye about his musical career there and left to release some albums on his own. Among his releases was a live disc also featuring brother Bruce Robison and Jack Ingram that was put out by Sony's Lucky Dog label. He then went to Dualtone Records.
Robison was a judge on the first season of the TV singing competition Nashville Star.
He married Emily Erwin of the Dixie Chicks in 1999 (the couple divorced on August 6, 2008). They have three children together: Charles Augustus, called "Gus", born November 11, 2002 and twins Julianna Tex (9:19pm, 6 lb 10 oz) and Henry Benjamin (9:29pm, 6 lb 14 oz), born on April 14, 2005. All three children were conceived via invitro fertilization.

Feelin' Good
Charlie Robison Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Feelin good again, I don't need to share the load
Well I got ties that show a backbone made of silver
Well I got willie playin on my radio
I had an angel and she promised shed deliver
Gonna save my soul, but she left a hole
Hope this never ends, raise my face into the sun
Well I got a t-shirt that I bought when i was 20
It says "long live rock-n-roll"
Well I got pockets, if there's money I got plenty
Hope this summer folds, helps to save my soul
Feelin good my friend, I got 4 wheels upon the road
Feelin good again, I don't need to share the load
Well i got strings that sound as pretty as the ocean
Gonna sit up in the dunes
And wonder what became of undying devotion
I'll just play a tune, freedoms comin soon
Play another tune, play it to the moon
The lyrics to Charlie Robison's song "Feelin' Good" are a celebration of life and the spirit of freedom. The first verse talks about feeling good while driving down the road, without any worries or burdens to share with anyone. He feels strong and sturdy, like his backbone is made of silver. The mention of Willie Nelson playing on his radio suggests that he is listening to good music that uplifts and inspires him. The verse ends on a bittersweet note, with the mention of an angel who promised to save his soul, but left a hole, perhaps indicating someone who was once important in his life but who is now gone.
The second verse is about the singer's hope that the good feeling he is experiencing will never end. He raises his face to the sun and feels free and alive. He mentions a t-shirt that he bought when he was 20 that says "long live rock-n-roll", indicating that he has a long-standing love for music and the freedom it represents. He has pockets full of money and hopes that this summer will help to save his soul.
The final verse talks about the singer's longing to be by the ocean, to sit in the dunes and wonder about undying devotion, perhaps reflecting on a lost love or a memory from his past. But he chooses instead to play a tune and celebrate his freedom, looking forward to a time when freedom is even more attainable.
Overall, "Feelin' Good" is a song about finding joy and freedom in life, regardless of the hardships or struggles that may come our way. It celebrates the power of music to uplift and inspire, and encourages us to embrace life's opportunities and make the most of every moment.

And he had a lot more 'loot'....not 'more to lose'. Either way sounds good, though
