Cheryline Lim was born 10 March 1983. She was born to a Bornean-born Chinese father, and a mother of a mixed of Indian and Dutch heritage. Born in Malaysia, Lim and her family moved to Perth, Australia when she was 10 years old. As a child she gained the attention of her father after singing in his karaoke lounge, seeing her talent. She later started writing and producing her own music in her home studio. Sir Charles Dixon discovered her talents, after she uploaded some of her music onto Myspace. Dixon took her material to Virgin Records and Virgin flew Che'nelle to New York at the end of 2005 to meet with representatives from the label. The chairman of the label and longtime music business baron, Jason Flom, signed her immediately. Within two days, she had completed the deal and was marketed as a world-class artist. Che'nelle worked as a promotions assistant before moving to New York in January after signing a six-album deal with Virgin Records America. In Australia, she is represented by EMI.
She performed as the opening act on Kanye West's Australian tour in March 2006.
Her debut album Things Happen for a Reason was released on 25 September 2007 in Japan and 29 October 2007 in Australia. The first single from this album was "I Fell in Love with the DJ" featuring reggae artist Cham. The song was also produced in Bahasa Malaysia with the title of "DJ yang Ku Puja".
Also, She co-wrote Carmit Bachar's single "Fierce",
Ricki-Lee's debut single "Hell No!" and Leona Lewis's song "Can't Breathe"
Her second album was later confirmed and given the
working title "Feel Good", named after the first single off the album.
The first single "Feel Good" from this album is strongly influenced by Reggae and Dancehall music just like her first single "I Fell In Love With The DJ" off her debut album (Things Happen For A Reason) which features Jamaican Dancehall artist "Cham". The music video for "Feel Good" premiered online on 11 January 2010.The album "Feel Good" was released on 10 February 2010 in Japan via EMI Japan. The album has so far garnered the singles 'Feel Good' and 'Missing'.

look up to broken skies
In the dark I wait for sun rise
And this road
brings back sweet memories
By your side
in the summer breeze
Should have known
But I paused and now
its too late
And I know now I was such a fool
'Cos I walk this road
without you
Broken hearts
need time for mending
I take a trip down memory lane
And I know now I was a fool
'Cos I'm alone,
with only memories of you
Since you left
I counted every night
Full of pain that slowly faded
Through the glass
I can make out the waves
And they seem to be much warmer
Time has passed
I don't need you now
Pain is gone
I'm doing much better
Ain't no way
to bring back that day
But your memory will live on
As you said your last goodbye
You grew up before my eyes
And the days we spent
sweet moments together
Are now just sweet memories
Should have known
not to hesitate
But I paused and now
its too late
And I know now
I was such a fool
'Cos I walk this road
without you
From my baby to a lady
You moved on and said goodbye
And the days we spent are now
just memories
Broken hearts
need time for mending
I take a trip down memory lane
And I know now I was a fool
'Cos I'm alone,
with only memories of you
The song "ガラス越しに消えた夏" by Che'Nelle is a melancholic ballad that speaks to the pain of lost love and the memories that linger long after the relationship has ended. The lyrics describe the longing for a lost love and the regrets of not seizing the moment when it presented itself. The singer reminiscences about the times they spent with their lover during the summer breeze, but now they can only remember those moments as sweet memories. The first verse reflects on how the singer is waiting for the sun to rise through broken skies, representing the hope that time will heal their broken heart. The second verse shows how the singer has started to move on, but that the memories of the lost lover will live on in their heart.
The chorus talks about how broken hearts need time for mending and how nostalgia can bring back memories of better times. It also acknowledges the pain of lost love and the difficulty of moving on, stating that walking the road without the loved one is a foolish decision. Later in the song, the singer acknowledges that time has passed and they are doing much better. They realize that while they can't bring back that day, they can hold on to the memory of the love they shared.
In summary, "ガラス越しに消えた夏" is a song about the pain of lost love, the memories that remain, and the hope for healing and moving on.

As my eyes
Looking up at the broken skies
look up to broken skies
Looking up at the cloudy, stormy sky
In the dark I wait for sun rise
Waiting for the sun to rise while it is still dark outside

This journey that I'm on
brings back sweet memories
Reminds me of the good times I had
By your side
Next to you
in the summer breeze

not to hesitate
That hesitating is a mistake
But I paused and now
But I stopped myself, and now
its too late
It's too late to fix things
And I know now I was such a fool

'Cos I walk this road
As I continue on this journey
without you

You matured and changed while I watched
And the days we spent
The time we spent together
sweet moments together
The happy times we shared
Are now just sweet memories
Are only memories now
From my baby to a lady
From being a child to becoming a woman
You moved on and said goodbye
You moved forward and left me behind
I'm alone,
I'm by myself
with only memories of you
With only the recollection of our time together
