Cheryline Lim was born 10 March 1983. She was born to a Bornean-born Chinese father, and a mother of a mixed of Indian and Dutch heritage. Born in Malaysia, Lim and her family moved to Perth, Australia when she was 10 years old. As a child she gained the attention of her father after singing in his karaoke lounge, seeing her talent. She later started writing and producing her own music in her home studio. Sir Charles Dixon discovered her talents, after she uploaded some of her music onto Myspace. Dixon took her material to Virgin Records and Virgin flew Che'nelle to New York at the end of 2005 to meet with representatives from the label. The chairman of the label and longtime music business baron, Jason Flom, signed her immediately. Within two days, she had completed the deal and was marketed as a world-class artist. Che'nelle worked as a promotions assistant before moving to New York in January after signing a six-album deal with Virgin Records America. In Australia, she is represented by EMI.
She performed as the opening act on Kanye West's Australian tour in March 2006.

Used to talk on the phone to the early in the morning
You were there, you were down
Under all circumstances you were around
But than we kissed
Didn't think it was a major risk
And now it's changed all up into this
And I really miss what we had
You never took it personal before I was your girl
Lets get right back where we belong
I used to tell you everything now I can't say anything
Lets get right back where we belong
And all of the nights you gave me advice
They've all been replaced by the usual fights
And now I don't know what to do to get us back
Right back where we belong
Lets get right back where we belong
Lets get right back where we belong
Smothering me on the time
When I move to the left you're still hanging on my right
Checkin out frequently and
I'll never be ok if you keep pushing me
And you never had it in you to but how you acted
Now it's like I'm not so sure
And I really miss what we had
So can we go back to when
You never took it personal before I was your girl
Lets get right back where we belong
I used to tell you everything now I can't say anything
Lets get right back where we belong
And all of the nights you gave me advice
They've all been replaced by the usual fights
And now I don't know what to do to get us back
Right back to where we belong
Lets get right back where we belong
Lets get right back where we belong
You were my rock you were my mate
Right up in my face when I was losing faith
You wouldn't get mad when I would say no
You let me be free but now you wanna control
Baybe it's sad I believe
I was for you and you was for me
I'm at the point the point of no returning
I am overthinking something you love
Lets get right back where we belong
Cuz...
You never took it personal before I was your girl
Lets get right back where we belong
I used to tell you everything now I can't say anything
Lets get right back where we belong
And all of the nights you gave me advice
They've all been replaced by the usual fights
And now I don't know what to do to get us back
Right back to where we belong
Lets get right back where we belong
Can we go back
Lets get right back where we belong
Can we go back
Lets get right back where we belong
Can we go back
Lets get right back where we belong
You never took it personal
Until I was your girl
I used to tell you everything
And now I cannot say anyhting...
The song "Right Back" by Che'Nelle is about a couple who were once good friends and had a strong bond. They used to talk on the phone early in the morning and had a great connection. However, after sharing a kiss, things changed, and they are no longer on the same page. The lyrics describe how the relationship has gone from being very comfortable to suffocating, and they are now having the same fights repeatedly. Che'Nelle wants to get back to how they used to be, where they could talk to each other without any discomfort or arguments.
The verses describe the significant change that has happened in the relationship. The subtle hints of jealousy and need for control have caused a rift between the couple. There is a loss of trust and understanding that has caused their friendship and trust to weaken. Che'Nelle sings about the miscommunication they're having, and how their usual conversations now lead to arguments, and how she wants to go back to what it was before. The repetition of the chorus, "Let's get right back where we belong" reflects the longing for resolution and to return to how they used to be.
In summary, the song "Right Back" by Che'Nelle is about the complications that arise when a friendship turns into a relationship. The lyrics talk about the significant changes that occur when two friends cross the line to become romantically involved, and how they can lose what they once had.
