Cher contributed to the soundtrack for her next film, Mermaids (1990), which spawned the UK number-one single "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)". She made her directorial debut with a segment in the abortion-themed anthology If These Walls Could Talk (1996).
Cher reached a new commercial peak in 1998 with the dance-pop album Believe, whose title track topped the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1999 and became the biggest-selling single of all time by a female artist in the UK. It features pioneering use of Auto-Tune to distort her vocals, known as the "Cher effect". Her 2002–2005 Living Proof: The Farewell Tour became one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time, earning $250 million. In 2008, she signed a $60 million deal to headline the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for three years. During the 2010s, she landed starring roles in the films Burlesque (2010) and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and released studio albums Closer to the Truth (2013) and Dancing Queen (2018), both of which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200.

Don't Hide Your Love
Cher Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's just that you've been hurt before
You're so afraid to let me love you
You never leave an open door
Don't judge me by some other lover
Who broke your heart and walked away
Come let's be fair with one another
My world is yours i swear it
[Chorus]
Don't hide your love
(don't hide your love)
Not if you care for me
(not if you care for me)
It isn't fair for me
To worry and wonder and wait
Don't hide your love
(don't hide your love)
Just love me here and now
(just love me here and now)
We'll work it out somehow
Don't you keep us apart
Baby unlock your heart
Don't hide your love
Well i now the past has bought you sorrow
The clouds still hang around today
But don't let the rain, fall on tomorrow
Baby we can make it together
'cause i'm gonna love you forever
[Chorus]
The lyrics to Cher's song "Don't Hide Your Love" are about a relationship in which one partner is hesitant to fully commit due to past heartbreak. The song starts by acknowledging that the partner has not given themselves fully to the relationship because of past hurt. The singer then acknowledges their partner's fear but pleads with them to not let it stop them from giving their full love.
The chorus emphasizes the singer's desire for their partner to not hide their love and to be fully present in the relationship. The singer chides their partner for being unfair by not allowing them to fully love and urges them to unlock their heart. The second verse starts by acknowledging that the past has caused their partner pain, but urges them to not let it affect their present and future happiness. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer promising to love their partner forever.
Overall, the song is about the struggle that can come with moving on from past heartbreak and fully committing to a new relationship. It emphasizes the importance of not letting past hurt prevent us from experiencing love and happiness in the present.
