Feelin' Stronger Every Day
Chicago Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I do believe in you
And I know you believe in me
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
But now we realize
Love's not all that it's supposed to be
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I'm feelin' stronger every day

I know we really tried
Together we had love inside
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
So now the time has come
For both of us to live on the run
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I'm feelin' stronger every day

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh

After what you've meant to me
Ooh, baby now
I can make it easily
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I know that we both agree
Best thing to happen to you
The best thing that happened to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah

(We love you)
(We love you) (let's spend the night together)
(We love you) (Jumpin' Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas)

Feelin' stronger every day
Feelin' stronger every day
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)

Feelin' stronger every day (you know I'm alright now)
Feelin' stronger every day

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Chicago’s song “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day” express the idea that although a romantic relationship has ended, the singer still believes in and is supported by their former partner. The first two lines of the song introduce this sentiment: “I do believe in you / And I know you believe in me.” The repetition of “oh yeah” adds emphasis to this mutual belief. However, the following lines acknowledge that love is not always perfect or enough: “But now we realize / Love's not all that it's supposed to be.”

Despite the end of the relationship, the singer reveals that they are growing and feeling stronger: “And knowing that you would have wanted it this way / I do believe I'm feelin' stronger every day.” The chorus repeats this assertion multiple times, as if to solidify this newfound strength. The final lines of the song pay tribute to the former partner: “Best thing to happen to you / The best thing that happened to me." Overall, the lyrics of "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" describe a complicated mix of emotions that arise from the end of a romantic relationship, but ultimately point to resilience and personal growth.

on Oh, Thank You Great Spirit

Great song and a fitting tribute to Jimi from his friend and fan Terry Kath, I've all ways believed the song was kind of a prospective of the dead, coming to the realization that they have crossed over and or no longer burden by all of life's problem's and pain's and are now free from all, and now overcome with gratitude to the Great Spirit , Greater of the universe and of life , GOD, that he is now free to fly the heavenly sky's , but ether way death or just a good night's sleep, great song.
