It's Chico Time
Chipper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What time is it
What time is it
What time is it
Sometimes it feels so good I can't remember bad
My inner clock is ticking and the backbeat drives me mad
It's erotic, exotic, hypnotic thats for sure
It'll put a smile on your face and take you to a place
You've never been before

Let it all hang out
(Jump back)
we gonna scream and shout
Don't you want get out of line
Everybody say what time is it
(What time is it)
It's Chico (Chipper) time

Well you can get delirious
If you take life too serious
{It's Chico time}
You can get delirious
If you take life too serious

It's Chico (Chipper) time

You get up in this song
You can't do nothing wrong
In front of the mirror
Like there's a party going on

If you want it, you got it, go get it
Baby can't you see
Don't fantasize, just realize, be happy to be free

Let it all hang out
(Jump back)
we gonna scream and shout
Don't you want get out of line
Everybody say what time is it
(What time is it)
It's Chico (Chipper) time

Well you can get delirious
If you take life too serious
{It's Chico time}
You can get delirious
If you take life too serious

Shake it lordy
Come on baby bump my body
Do it good and do it naughty

If you don't dig reality
Then baby just lay it on me
{It's Chico time}

You can get delirious
If you take life too serious
{It's Chico time}
You can get delirious
If you take life too serious

It's Chico (Chipper) time

(What time is it)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics for the song "It's Chico Time" by Chipper are a joyful and upbeat celebration of living in the moment and not taking life too seriously. The opening lines focus on the sensation of feeling good, with the singer suggesting that positive emotions can have the power to overcome negative experiences. The music becomes increasingly frenzied as the backbeat picks up and the song becomes more "erotic, exotic, and hypnotic," with the implication that giving into these feelings is both desirable and exciting. This is emphasized in the refrain, which repeats "It's Chico (Chipper) time" and encourages listeners to let loose and have fun.

The second verse reinforces these ideas, suggesting that the song creates an atmosphere of total freedom and enjoyment where it's impossible to feel self-conscious. The line "If you want it, you got it, go get it" reinforces the idea that embracing the present moment is ultimately empowering and that sensual pleasures are nothing to be ashamed of. The closing lines of the song reinforce this message by suggesting that if you can't handle reality, you should let go and enjoy the ride. The repetition of the phrase "you can get delirious if you take life too serious" suggests that the song is intended as a counterpoint to somber, realistic attitudes that might dampen the mood.

Overall, "It's Chico Time" is about embracing the moment and letting go of inhibition, and the lyrics reflect this with their frenzied energy and excitement. The song is intended to be a joyous celebration of life and the pleasures that come with living fully.

Bianca Mckay I have met Chico too, best day of my life.

It all went downhill afterwards -- how could any other experience ever live up to that day?  At first I hung out at red carpets trying to try and meet other celebrities but they all lacked charisma.  I even disguised myself as a vending machine and sneaked into MC Hammer's dressing room.  What an idiot I was; the contrast of Hammer Time only made things worse.

That's when I started using crack.  The euphoria was the closest I ever got to reliving my very own Chico Time.  They say the rock takes your money before it takes your soul and sadly that was true of me.  Before long I was living off foraged food scraps, moving from squat-to-squat and sleeping with only a ragged blanket and the thoughts of Chico Time to keep me warm.

The worst part is how everything came to get better for me -- but that's a story for another place.

Chico Time, not even once.
