That's a very interestig question.
I think the text for me is also not tó clear. This little piece of text looks very simillar to another previous story of the Bible.
I'am sure you have read the story when Jacob was fighting with God.
After the fight his name became Israel.
Jacob had a lot of fear on that night because his brother.
But after this battle he got a blessing from the Lord.

So we read Moses also had a lot of fear.
But meanwhile he forgott to make the sign of the Covenant on his son.
How can he be a good leader for Israel if in his family doesn't have any signs of good relationship with God?
And this little failure (the "vorskin problem") could causes a bad reputation for Moses among the people of Israel.

This is my opinion.
But i also hope it can help you.!

I just got through genesis with your bible plan and I'm getting more out of the bible than I have before. It's only the first book, but the stories just popped out to me and came to life. I could see some of these in my mind. At times, I would be in shock. At other times, I would laugh because of something I found amusing. Some parts, I didn't completely enjoy or understand, but as a whole, I got a lot more out of Genesis than before. It's my first time reading through Genesis completely and I'm glad that I made it through. I didn't read everyday, but I caught up the next day by reading (or listening because I use audio too) both days passages. I'm actually excited to go to Exodus. Your videos help me understand what's going on and they help bring the bible to life. Thank you for all your hard work and keep it up. I hope to finish the bible with this plan by the end of the year. God bless.

It really is better to read it the whole way through like that, because you get so much out of it!! I've read through the first five books of the bible, but after that I'm so, so lost because I don't know any of the history. I'm so excited for these guys to help me understand that part! :)

You should dig even deeper. Each story there is a picture or type of Christ. For example: Abraham sent his servant to find a bride for his son Isaac to inherit all things. God sent the holy spirit to find a bride to Jesus to inherit all things. Joseph’s whole life is a type of Christ. For example while he was in jail the two men had a dream about bread and wine and Joseph said to them “Remember me.” Hmm

God never wanted to favor the Pharaoh in any way. The pharaoh tricked, hated, and looked down on the people of God. So God returned the favor: hardened his heart, killed his firstborn, made him look like a fool in front of his power and God treated pharaoh like a weak peasant. All to show the people of Israel that God aint nothing to ** with.
There is now a new mockery waiting to happen. Daca and immigrants escaping from their own lands which the usa has all affected one way or another. Will God treat the USA like pharaoh or like the King who was given mercy? "Do unto other as they have done to you" or "when a man strikes you on the cheek, turn the other cheek so that he may also strike it"

Just finished reading Exodus completely, for the first time, and thought I'd watch this to solidify what I read.
While watching this, when it got to the Passover part, I was reminded of the sequence of events that took place before Christ's crucifixion (probably because I'm also reading Matthew right now) during Passover. And how Christ was the spotless Lamb just like the spotless lamb in Egypt and how the blood protected them. Just like Christ's blood was shed for our sins and His righteousness imputed on us.
Sorry if this is confusing... But I just now made that parallel thanks to the Holy Spirit. Even though I've heard about the story of the Israelites in Egypt countless times, this is the first time I've truly made the parallel of the Passover then (Old Testament) and the lamb to the one in Matthew right before Christ's death.

What a phenomenal series. I have been a christian for almost 15 years and I have NEVER seen such an intricate, yet simple explanation of the Books of the Bible. I wish I had these videos when I first became a christian. Learning to read, understand, and disecct the Scriptures is daunting as a new christian. I had good men and women of faith that assisted me throughout my journey but if I had no-one, this series would have been an immense blessing. Thank you for the hard work in putting this series together. I look forward to finishing this series and adding it to my Devotions collection!

I don't know who produces this series, but this has got to be the most succinct, well thought out, abbreviated telling of the Scriptures. If someone is willing to watch this, God will touch their hearts and gently push them towards the Scriptures, and hopefully salvation in Jesus Christ. Praise God for what you are doing!

I love your videos and I was wondering if you all would ever consider doing a informative video about the geography in the bible as well as the division of ethnic groups after the flood. I find the genealogy in the bible really interesting and how a lot of it is getting closer towards Jesus. I also have a passion about the study of ethnicities, genetics and race(social construct) for example how Kemet (Egypt) are descendants of Ham on of the sons of Noah and just north of Upper Egypt (imagine the African continent upside down this is how Egypt and many african countries viewed themselves) were the Nubian people. I was also wondering about the different characters in the bible who were not Isralites such as Ruth.

Man this is amazing, you've done a brilliant job covering these books. I could literally go on for days connecting all the dots to the New Testament, and I think if people were just willing listen they'd see it as clear as day how real it is. It's just far too intricate with every part of our reality to be conceived by human minds. I really hope I can somehow teach others just how profound this is as well. I watch these videos after I finish one of the books of the Bible and it is a fantastic way to get a refresher or maybe some things I misinterpreted and it seamlessly sums things up. I’m in the middle of reading Exodus, right as God is clarifying details for the festival of unleavened bread. Something that stood out to me was when God said that he would harden Pharaoh’s heart basically to make a fool out of Egypt (as well as to show off his power I guess lol) There were several points at which Moses could have lead Israel to safety (the plague of darkness much?) but didn’t because God wanted to keep messing with Pharaoh 😅 also, something that my church NEVER told me and I never knew until reading it, up until the gnats, the Pharaoh’s magicians could do a lot of the “miracles” that Moses did, such as turning the staff into a snake, turning the Nile River and other water into blood, and calling upon the frogs. Also, is it just me or did God low-key get Moses to lie a little? He told Moses he’d free the Israelites, and told Moses to tell Pharaoh that they would just go to have a holy festival or something, not really saying one way or the other if they would come back. In everything I heard it was Moses saying “free them”, but actually reading the Bible it’s more like “let us go someplace to worship God for a few days.” Obviously his intention from the start was to never come back, and Pharaoh saw that, which is why he didn’t let them go anyway.

"Exodus means a mass departure. But a departure of what? For the Israelites it was a departure from Egypt to the promised land. But is it really a departure if the soul carries the Egypt heart? You can remove the people out of Egypt but it’s different moving Egypt out of the heart of man which is why the Israelites encountered the many troubles. The golden calf was just a fruit of their idolatry and an expression of their idol worship. The Church still carries this same attitude. It is the heart of idolatry by serving two masters – Me and the gods that please themselves. Cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches and lust of other things has become the modern day golden image and indeed many have given their hearts over to these idols and end up doing what Aaron did. Now it wasn’t that Aaron didn’t love Me, however complacency was in his heart and he ended up doing what all complacent people do – denying Me for the temporary.

I have called you out of the world and into My kingdom; but not to bring the world into My kingdom. I am not saying that you cannot desire things. But if the desire owns your heart and you cannot seem to live without it because you feel compelled to have it, then you must consider what it is that you are worshipping. These are desires you must let go of if you want to reach the promise land. You should never look back and think, “The world is also full of silver and gold and there is no end to their treasures.” If I have shown you the path, given you the miracles and offered you a kingdom, then what in Egypt could you possibly want? Cast your cares at My feet, remain faithful to My voice and I will be faithful to meet your every need."

Just a bit of wisdom to everyone: the videos are great and on point with the bible. However, don't just use the videos as your primary source, the Bible should be everyone's sources. (As the people in Bible Project using the Bible for their videos.) If you receive a message whether from a person, a video, or even from documents about the passages in the Bible, always check the Bible itself for yourself.
Example would be the mention of Pharaoh's hardened heart. I never realized that it was both Pharaoh and God doing this. I thought God hardened Pharaoh's heart throughout the plagues. So I decided to look through the bible myself, and indeed I was corrected. Double checking for yourself not only give you insight, but also conformation. Not only conformation about your own faith and beliefs, but conforming what the secondary source presented.

Sorry for the misread on "Hardened Heart", I realized that could be misinterpreted. But I'm referring during the plagues. I was merely using it as an example about looking up stuff for ourselves if we hear something we are unsure about.

We have to be careful when trying to interpret the scriptures, sometimes there's a tendency for us to try and not make God look bad. But the truth is that, He is sovereign, He can do as He pleases, take the bible the way it is and don't try to humanize it or try to reason it out. In Exodus 4:21, Moses has not even come in contact with Pharaoh before God told Moses I will harden Pharaoh's heart so that he doesn't let my people go.

In Exodus 9:16 we can see the original plan of God, His main intent of hardening Pharaoh's heart was because He wanted to make His power known to all the world. Romans 9:22 says, What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction?

Pharaoh was an object of God's wrath, Yes, the same way He has objects of mercy, He also has objects of wrath, He is God, He is allowed to.

In conclusion, Romans 9:18 confirms, that God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy on and hardens whom He wants to harden. And that again is because He is sovereign, He can do as He pleases.

Ndifreke Etoedia i get what you’re saying, and i highly agree with you. I was referring to not just believe in the words of 1 person. Gather information from other places, but most importantly the bible because that should be everyone’s primary source. If someone is given a passage, always double check that the passage being presented is used correctly.

Ndifreke Etoedia in addition, im highly aware of those particular scriptures as well. Especially when some of my close friends did a bible discussion on this. And i totally agree with you.
God is Sovereign, and we have no say in any matter on what He is doing. We are after all his creations, and the creator has every right to use us for His purpose and glory.

Anytime i watch the video of the bible projects i felt that i am already in the bible school. i have learned so many things and very understandable.. i read the scriptures before since i become a born again but i don’t understand the meaning and the word of God 🙏 the Holy Spirit is guiding me to find this video

I love the Bible Project. The synopsis of portions of scripture are presented clearly and help give insight to God's word. I do have one criticism of the opening to the Exodus tale. The Evil of Pharaoh was not only the killing of the Israelite baby boys, but also the oppression via slavery of a group of people solely out of a feeling that he was entitled to oppress them. Slavery whether to sin, our current lot because of the fall, or practiced as an oppressive act is evidence of evil.
