Ayy (ooh, ayy)
Ayy (ooh, ayy)
Oh, yeah
Ciara (that's me)
The dreamer, The-Dream
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Baby
I wanna say come over, but I told you that it's over
How much pain can one heart take? Oh, yeah, yeah
And well, I wish that you were closer
So I could love over and over again
Today, I may have lost my friend
Girl, you, you are my baby
And I can't just let you leave
I'm caught up in this lover's thing
It's love, and that I can't deny
Won't even start to lie
I'm caught up in this lover's thing
Baby, you
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Baby (yeah), baby
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Baby (yeah), baby
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Baby (yeah), baby
Baby (yeah), baby
Girl, take back your decision
And paint me back in your picture
I'm calling on your phone, girl
You keep sending me straight to voicemail
Now why ain't he persistent
I'm sure by now he misses it
Calling on the phone, you won't answer my call
And you, you are my baby
I can't just let you leave
I'm caught up in this lover's thing
Yeah, it's love, and that I can't deny
Won't even start to lie
I'm caught up in this lover's thing
Baby, baby
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Baby (yeah), baby
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Baby (yeah), baby
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Baby (yeah), baby
Baby (yeah), baby (yeah)
Ayy
I'm wonderin', does she know that I love her?
Ooh (ayy), uh
I wonder if he knows that I can't wait
Will you ever forgive me?
Hello, are you there?
Boy, you, you are my baby
And I can't just let you leave
I'm caught up in this lover's thing
It's love, and that I can't deny
Won't even start to lie
I'm caught up in this lover's thing
In Ciara's song "Lover's Thing," the lyrics are sung from the perspective of someone who is caught up in a complicated, emotionally charged relationship. The singer expresses a desire to reconnect with their former love interest, even though they have already broken up. The first verse sets the stage for this theme, with the singer lamenting that they wish their former lover was closer so that they could try to love them again. However, there is also a sense of resignation and sadness throughout the song, as the singer is not sure if their love interest still cares for them and they are not sure how to make things right. This is further emphasized in the second verse, where the singer expresses frustration that their former love interest is not answering their calls.
Overall, "Lover's Thing" is a song that captures the complex emotions that often come with romantic relationships, particularly when they are coming to an end. It's a bittersweet song that speaks to the human experience of loving and losing, and the desire to reconnect with someone who may no longer be available.
