I"m extremely impressed by how Aaron Anderson acted throughout this whole process. He didn't do a single thing wrong to hurt his efforts to reunite with his daughter. She filed a protection order on him, and this is very common. When I worked my way through the family court system I saw mothers in court who had not seen their kids for over a year because the father filed a protection order (although that's less common). When this happens the person filing can have free legal representation on low income and the person who the order is against gets none. I also watched judges ping pong cases back and forth for months because they didn't think it was their jurisdiction. Unfortunately family court is a consequence of civil cases which are slow and with continuous delays.

Been there, done that. I lived in Washington State for 27 years. Every time I would defeat a BS charge, she's leave the court room and immediately file another ex parte restraining order. This went on, with 9-18 months gaps, for 14 years.

The problem is that the case jumped from judge to judge. If it was all seen by one judge, I believe there would have been much faster progress. Many judges will do the paperwork, but not make any decisions in case they get appealed. From what I understand, appeals count "against a judge's record". Sort of like a bad grade on a report card. Judges don't want them--especially if they want to further their career.

It can be obvious that the mother is not the best option for the child and yet the fathers tend to have to prove that they're a better option for the child and yet the courts still lean to the mother. Just like in this case and many others.

I had the same exact thought.. when the lawyer said she didn’t test positive for anything, including suboxone, it was an immediate red flag. Suboxone shows in home urine tests for a good month after last use if it’s been taken on consistent long term basis, much less a hair test that can go back pretty far for even casual use. That alone is super suspicious but the way she conducts herself on top of it.. I’d bet money she’s back on opiates of some kind. The kid is better off with dad for time being.

I agree with this statement she is definitely not clean, I’ve seen an addict many times in my life, as I used to be an EMP and firefighter and additionally, one of my best friends was an addict, and my other best friends sister died an addict along with getting her child addicted, who died a year later.
She has very distinct features that remind me of them. Additionally, the fact that she did not test positive positive for Suboxone. It is a clear indication that she used something to remove the stuff that was there.
Personally, I think the next time they go to court which will likely be soon because now that there’s real consequences, I imagine she will get this done, I think the lawyer should ask for six months of random UA at least twice a week. Eventually, she will slip up if she is using things to clear her urine. Additionally, if you smoke weed or heroin or meth, or whatever it is, even if you use those cleansers, it would take time. But I agree again 100%. She is an addict.

I am so impressed with the compassion of this court, but for the father and a whole year of a child's life is heartbreaking. I know almost nothing about how any of this works in family court, but it strikes me that mediators and advocates could play helpful roles in shortening the process for the court and easing hardship the parents endure. If the parent does not cooperate, it can't be forced, but if they were willing, it seems like they could be helpful interim supports. Lawyers are so busy sometimes, they don't often have time to organize and help with the minutiae. Ms. Winkles was exceptional in that way. Also a clear, updated check-list, description and date for each required task distributed to the parents seems like it could help. My heartfelt best wishes to these parents and all their precious children in this transition and in the future. May God bless them!

Yeah, but he’s paying for all that experience. No less than $10,000 just for beginning the case. Then with all the delays, she’s doing well for herself with this one. All the delays not only cost him time with his child, but literally cost him in attorney fees. The judge isn’t requiring mother to pay for those fees so I’m sure not being punished with that as well, caused more of her dragging of her feet.

I understand why one would believe that, but I disagree. The reality is sexism through the courts specifically in childcare has changed throughout the years, it is not as prevalent as it was even 10 years ago. Fathers are allowed to drag things out just as much as mothers but often when they are, they are not the sole custodian. So losing custody could not be used as the stick to bring them to heal. So it could take even longer to be honest. Unfortunately, anytime a parent wants to obstruct the court process. They are going to be given massive amounts of leeway. That way when the time comes like it did in the end of this video, the judge can bring the hammer down and no one can claim bias were that they were overreactive when there is clear reasons that this happened. Because she always does have an excuse, not really good ones, but she does have an excuse, so the courts have to give some notice and allow that person to hang themselves before they can do anything. It’s about our court system that I find the most disgusting. Because parents are doing this to keep control of their child instead of splitting them just like they should. And the reality is then the other parent has to go to court &spend tons of money on a lawyer. When if the parents could get out of their own way, they could use that money and put it towards the child’s education, health, whatever needs that they have. It’s really sad.

There is NO situation where any father could have behaved in such an unhinged fashion and have any hope of visitation much less custody. Just try to picture how that would turn out. I know male and female brains are generally different, but how can anyone watch this woman falling apart think that she could be a fit parent?

This should have NEVER been allowed!! Shame on the Courts & the judges who allowed it. The father’s attorney should have argued the financial burden she is placing on him by dragging this out for over a year (while he’s forced to continue to pay for an attorney) all the while she’s not paying for nor can she keep an attorney. Also, that evaluation is probably going to give the father full custody & she knows that which is why she doesn’t want to do it bc she’s unstable.

Her excuses and her “I didn’t get those paperwork or those emails” are so completely annoying it’s just her play on getting everything her way how and WHY TF has this judge allowed this to drag on!!!
Ugh her voice is even annoying “I’m sorry I don’t understand anything” uh-huh sure u don’t!!

I agree with you about the financial burden, but my guess on why she did not is you can’t bleed a turnup dry. She has nothing, you can charge her with fees that will never get paid. She’ll go into collections she’ll go into default and really there’s no way to get it out of her. Now, if she goes onto child support, then she can be jailed with contempt by not paying child support, but as far as like a bill, that lawyer would never see a dime. Which my guess is the reason her lawyer let her go is she probably gave him a small retainer, and then never gave him another dollar.

Actually I’ve seen Ms Winkles defending a few other clients in cases like this and after a while, when it comes to a point of basically filings and no-show court zoom calls she drops her fees or goes pro-bono if they can’t get fees from the opponent.

According to the courts, we are not important. We're only important as sperm donors and ATMs. I saw in my own case, after establishing paternity myself and going after parental rights, that the courts are very biased. After catching her in several lies, the court didn't even mention her lies or attempts to manipulate the court. Let's just move on. Nothing to see here. To be painted as a monster when you were nothing but good as gold to people is the hardest part. Dragging my son and me through the mud had no affect on her. She would not even talk to me and was clearly getting off on doing everything she could to hurt me in any way she could. Watching her in the room we would have to wait on before our turn to go before the court, I saw her laughing and having a good old time with her mother, the same woman who stood idly by and let her husband abuse but only my wife, but also the grandchildren. She became the abuser herself, but more in a psychological and emotional way. And I've never been the violent type, but I found that when you go to family court, they make you take all of your stuff out of your pockets and put it in a tray including your belt. Then they let you have your belt back and if you had a really heavy belt buckle, you got a weapon. And let me add, that both the courts we went to in two different jurisdictions, had both parties waiting in the same common area. So I go to sign in and I noticed they supply me with a weapon, an ink pen. I would be lying if I said I wasn't thinking about shoving it through her mind neck, putting her out of her. What these were just playful thoughts I never would have acted on. Then I go to the Coke machine, that was packed with 12 oz cans. Lots of potential projectiles there. You can do enough damage just throwing one of them and making contact. All someone would need is maybe a good shirt and a can or two to make an improvised blanket party. And any cops that could have reacted were about 30 ft away at the least. Then they invite us both in the back which was nothing but cubicles with temporary partition walls. And to my amazement, they supplied even more potential improvised weapons like the sharp little sharp pointy rod thing the restaurants use to stab the tickets after they've been completed, as well as a printer. And at this point, we were more than 50 ft away from the closest cop, behind a door that I truly dangerous person could block off the only means of entry and exit. And in the midst of all this, they're bringing lots of people together whose emotions are running very high. I just couldn't believe the security was so lax. Because even though I was only thinking of these things to amuse myself and to keep my sanity, I would have never acted on it. But they're always is that unhinged person who would act on it

@@_Z0YA_COOKS this is incorrect. In the past, women who were breast feeding would be indispensable (unless you were wealthy enough to have a wet nurse) but since formula has been around for a long time there is no reason a father cannot raise a child without a mother.
Both men and women can be single parents and there is ample behavioral and medical evidence to support this.

We don't live in the Bronze Age or the Middle Ages. This has been common knowledge since the beginning of the 20th century, however most courts wouldn't give custody to a man because of well intentioned by faulty reasoning like the "Tender Years" doctrine.

Thankfully modern courts now understand that a man can be as good a single parent as a woman.

My ex remarried and wanted me to give up rights to our daughter (6yr old). Had a court order for child support and visitation. She was preventing me from seeing my daughter on my weekends and holidays. Took her to court for contempt. Judge actually said she was wrong but wouldn't make her do jail time or pay a fine cause that would take away from the child.
