Let It Snow
Clayton Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
When we finally kiss good night,
How I'll hate going out in the storm,
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.
The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra's song Let It Snow begins with the classic line "Oh, the weather outside is frightful." The lyricist sets the scene for a chilly winter night where the weather is awful. However, the atmosphere inside is warm and cozy because of a burning fire. The second line, "But the fire is so delightful," expresses this sentiment. The next line, "And since we've no place to go," reveals that the individuals still there are enjoying each other's company so much that there's no need or desire to go anywhere else. The singer then urges the listener: "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."
The second verse starts with "It doesn't show signs of stopping," which emphasizes how bad the weather is outside; it's just getting worse with no end in sight. But there is a silver lining. The singer has brought "some corn for popping." This detail adds to the cozy setting and suggests that the individual/s have prepared for a night in. The lights are down low, and everything seems perfect. Finally: "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."
The chorus repeats the line "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow." The last stanza, "The fire is slowly dying, and, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing, but as long as you love me so. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow," suggests that the night has been perfect, but everything has to come to an end. The fire is dying, and the individual/s will have to say goodbye. Still, as long as love remains strong, they will always have that perfect winter night to hold onto.

I'm guessing this was filmed in England somewhere? The guy at the end with the shovel doesn't have a clue how to shovel snow.

Probably right. Cars seem to be driving on the left, and there was a train station named Beddington Lane.
