I watched this with my grandfather many years ago and during the scenes of Jesus getting tortured, I looked over at him and he was in tears. A man I never imagined I would ever see cry in my life. He fought in two wars and was as tough as nails. He never showed any emotion. I pray God let him into his kingdom, forgiven him for his sins, he lived a very tough life.

I remember I was 10 years old when my parents took me to see “The Passion of the Christ” and let me tell you, there were no dry eyes by the end of the film. It’s a tradition that I see this movie every year for Easter, to remind me what Jesus has done for us and I’m forever grateful. Amen!

My family and I are Christian, and I specifically remember running to my room in tears during the whipping scene. I was maybe 11. I'd read the story of Jesus in the bible, but to see such a brutal reenactment in this film knowing it was so much worse in real life, I was so overwhelmed. I remember hyperventilating and began to pray. My mom came and checked on me and calmed me down. I haven't seen the movie since, but been having the urge to rewatch it now that I'm 29 and have transformed and grown so much in my walk with Christ.

He asks if this is the only way, he was scared and I always believed that was his human side. But as he looked up to the sky and received only silence he knew then what shall be done. This movie is extremely tough for me to watch. Not only because we see the suffering and pain Jesus had gone through for us but also because it reminds me of how much of a sinner I am and how I don't deserve him. Yrs ago before I even seen this movie, I had a dream for 3 nights, I was brought back to the time of when Jesus was on trial, his beatings, his crucifixion and ascension into Heaven. I was there, I saw the people screaming and crying to release Jesus, I saw him getting beat and hung. I would scream and cry, which woke up my family, and the Holy Spirit would come and comfort me, I would fall back to sleep and go back into the same dream. I could see and hear everything that was happening, and the people were speaking in their own language, and I understood them, and once again I would wake up screaming and calling to release Jesus, and once again the H S had to comfort me. Then came his crucifixion, and then death. Then he ascended into Heaven. Whether or not anyone wants to believe my story is up to you, but I tell you the real thing that happened to Christ doesn't compare to the passion, Jesus was unrecognizable. And becuz I'm in horrible pain 24/7. I told Jesus that I can't go on anymore, he told me that if he can endure all the pain that he went thru I too can endure the pain also. and that one day I will no longer be in pain. Joke as you might be with my story, but the H S does show things to people to pass on. Glory to our Father who will receive us into himself soon. 💜🕊🙏

One of the absolute hardest movies to watch EVER. We did a very intense sermon several years ago and it was to the tone of the passion. The youth pastor paused the film right after the portrayal of Christ’s last breath our youth pastor paused it. It was so violent and brutal that I think most of the tears we shed and the absolute kick to the gut we felt was because of just how graphic it was, it did not hold back at all and that’s EXACTLY what the producers and writers wanted from it they wanted to as graphically as possible depict the death of Christ without sugar coating it

Wow!!! The lord was trying to tell him something when that first lightning struck him! They didn’t understand it… have any of you ever heard a voice taking the place of thunder in plain day without clouds nor rain? I have and I was in jail, on rickers island to be exact! It happened right after I got to the pictures of a book called “ the little boy that came back from heaven!” I fell to my knees and broke down crying and looking up at the sky through the wired window… that’s when the thunder sounded and the voice came right over it!
The next day my wife asked me over the phone if I heard something other than “ the low thunder?” That month I became a preacher out of nowhere and there was captains, corrections officers, bloods, crips, Latin kings, Muslims, catholics, christians, with me praying in the gym, and at night in a circle holding hands every night in the dorms! I heard the voice of the one we call father and felt the power manifest in me! That changed my entire life! That was in 2011-13.
I wonder if something happened or is different in his life after that lightning struck him? Them as well?!

Yeah it could have become very cheesy and cringeworthy "edgy" but it was really well done. Regarding a modern Film version of this story it really has succeeded on every level. It really pulls you into it and i kinda regret not having seen it at the theaters back when it came out. My stepmother had only been in the states for a couple of years when this movie came out. I believe it was also her first time ever in a theater. My dad had taken the entire family out to watch the film and I remember every single one of us wept. I’m talking I literally had boogie bubbling up in my nose, sobbing uncontrollably. My stepmom, who knew nothing of Christianity at the time, also cried. I vowed to never watch the film again because it was that hard to watch. I never had since.

This movie was so packed! I had to purchase my tickets at 9am for a 7 pm movie. The emotions going through that theater was so intense! The women and people that cried was unbelievable! Never again would I see that in a theater again

i remember this movie it played 6 months straight every night in spokane wa. i watched it twice . later on in life after reading the whole bible,i reconized and recieved much understanding of what the lord god almighty through his son was showing us through these sences in the movie passion of christ.praise god i was at the right place at the right time...for even today i am where iam suppose to be.

This movie was PROFOUND! Every year, I try and watch The Passion of the Christ, because it gives me such an appreciation for Christ's sacrifice on the Cross! I usually start sobbing, when they begin to pummel him, then whip him, I mean it;s excrutiating too watch, and yet so beautiful.... The Absolute and Profound LOVE of Jesus, is clearly spelled out, in this film! Mel Gibson, truly, put together a masterpiece for us! And he will forever be Blessed by God, for doing so! The other day in the kitchen when my 8 year old was misbehaving, I jokingly said, “can you imagine being Mary, her child was always obedient and never disobeyed her.” Then this huge wave of heaviness and anxiety took over me and I couldn’t breathe. I immediately started weeping out loud looking at my beautiful 8 year old boys face. Mary was there at the cross. I couldn’t imagine the pain she went through as a mother. Oh the pain!!!! 😭

Here's another fun fact about the composer of the film when he scored it:

John Debney was known mostly, before "The Passion", for his more fun/adventure/comedy film scores including Hocus Pocus, Cutthroat Island, Liar Liar, Inspector Gadget, Cats & Dogs, Spy Kids, Bruce Almighty, The Princess Diaries, The Scorpion King, The Tuxedo, Elf, etc. As he scored "The Passion", he reportedly had a reawakening of his own Catholic faith and became much more spiritually inclined afterward, even to the point of admitting to himself that Satan was real.

Afterward, the Vatican reached out to Debney about composing an orchestral symphony version of his score. He gratefully accepted, and he composed an hour-long symphonic oratorio that premiered at the Vatican. Since then, he has had an annual performance of his Passion Symphony delivered all over the world, including the Vatican.

Amazing.
For about 3 years around Easter time I started to hear a voice talking about a robe. It took me a long time to understand what was going on. It was a voice crying and in severe pain about his "robe." It did not occur to me what it was until I heard a theologian explaining that soldiers stole Jesus' robe and gambled for it.
That robe was made for Jesus by a very wealthy follower. It is said he loved it and wore it very often. Every Easter I had this same experience. It got so bad that I could not attend Easter services. The depression was so severe that I could hardly get out of bed on Easter Sunday mornings.
I have no idea why God allowed me to experience this but God knows. Peace!

I cried through much of the movie. But remember, what suffering we saw in the movie, was not much compared to the suffering he endured in hell as he was tortured for every sin that had been committed, and every sin that will be committed. Three days on earth was probably much longer in hell, where time does not exist. He suffered for every lie, every moment of lust, every curse word, every impure thought we have. Every sin we will ever commit.

I love this movie very much. It's heavy to watch but very inspiring too.. makes you think what Jesus have to going thru, makes you question about yourself and your life.. it's not just about Hollywood magic but trully it is..
It fascinates me how Jim took this role so serious. It was perfection of acting and I have feeling (you can see that) he is a really great guy.
It's almost 20 years passed but still the movie is great. God choose people to make it. Thank you Mel and thank you Jim and to all people that helped creating it.

He even suffered from the whipping and got mad while Yeshua didn't get mad he just let the romans do their thing, The actor even suffered on the cross even if it was just all an act, imagine how Yeshua felt spending hours on that cross while bleeding.
