A small side-project turned into a fully fledged album. The front man and drummer, Taylor Hawkins, quotes it as "an accident". Other members include Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction, and also played with Taylor with Alanis Morissette) and an enigmatic "Gannin" on bass.

Stay right by my side
Show me something good at the end of the line
If you're the one
Look into my eyes
Show me something good at the end of the line
The bridges that burn
You keep talking
But you don't say a word
If you're my friend
Stay right by my side
Show me something good at the end of the line
I've been walking over
The bridges that burn
You keep talking
But you ain't said a word
I don't want to see with someone else
I don't want to see you alone
Did you heart deceive you
Did you open up, just to let me go
In the end
Will your star still shine
Show me something good at the end of the line
When darkness ends
Will you be my light
Show me something good at the end of the line
I've been walking over
The bridges that burn
You keep talking
But you don't say a word
If you're my friend
Stay right by my side
Show me something good at the end of the line
End of the line
The lyrics to Coattail Riders' song "End of the Line" express a desire for love, loyalty, and reassurance. The singer asks their friend to stay by their side and show them something good at the end of the line. The repetition of this line emphasizes the singer's longing for something positive in their life. However, the singer seems to be struggling with trust issues, as evidenced by the lines "you keep talking, but you don't say a word." This repetition highlights the frustration the singer is feeling when they don't get the answers they need from their friend.
The last verse of the song touches on themes of loneliness and betrayal. The singer asks if their friend's heart deceived them, if they opened up only to let the singer go. This fear of abandonment is present throughout the song, as the singer repeatedly asks for reassurance that their friend will stay with them until the end of the line. The lyrics suggest that the singer is torn between wanting to connect with someone, but also being afraid of getting hurt or left alone.
Overall, the song expresses a sense of vulnerability and desire for meaningful connections with others. The repetition of the line "show me something good at the end of the line" serves as a reminder that, despite the struggles and uncertainty, the singer is still hopeful that there is something positive waiting for them.

I’ve always loved this song since I got this CD back in 2005. His voice is so beautiful in this song and it’s always been my favorite off this album. At some point in the early 2000’s I established with myself that he was indeed my favorite Drummer and to this day he still is and will always be. I’m a lifelong Springsteen Fan and got heavily into U2 in high school when The Joshua Tree came out in 1987 …so I was always loved Max Weinberg and Larry Mullen Jr. but as I became a huge fan of the Foo Fighters in 1999 and the love for their music only grew more with each album release, it was apparent to me that he was a cut above most Drummers in the History of music. The way he pounded those drums, it was strong, it was loud, it was pure energy. I’m so glad I got to talk to him after his show when he toured for this Coattail Riders album in 2005 and I got to tell him he was by far my favorite Drummer. Not that it made any difference in his life, but I’m glad I got to say it to him. He was so down to earth and a regular guy upon meeting him which makes us love him even more. Long Live the Hawk 🥁

This song hits home more now than ever. Taylor Hawkins will truly be missed not just for his drumming in Foo Fighters, and singing in bands like this one, but for the joyful soul he had towards life. Rest easy my friend.

This has to be one of my all time favorite songs... over and over... never gets old. Very "heavy" meaning, but true about every point of life. I love the work Taylor and company have done on this album. Why was this not bigger than it is...

This is so sad and sweet and makes me feel like I got a hug from him…😭😭😭😭
@timbowyer9239
Asked him to play this during both his uk tour dates, he told me he’d play it next time. How gutted am I that’ll never happen (sure it wouldn’t have even if he’d toured again!)
