Fall in Love
Cold T Lyrics

Ever since I learned your name
Forever getting over you
I've come to know a certain truth
You've never known how it feels to be alone
If you've never been in love
No, you'll never know how it feels to be alone
'Til you've known how it feels to be in love
But I didn't think it'd hurt so bad
Now I'm just wincing through the pain
It dulls but doesn't go away
You've never known how it feels to be alone
If you've never been in love
No, you'll never know how it feels to be alone
'Til you've known how how it feels to be in love
The lyrics of Cold T's song "Fall In Love" convey a sense of longing and heartbreak after a failed romantic relationship. The singer expresses that things have changed significantly since they learned the person's name, suggesting that meeting this individual had a profound impact on their life. They describe their ongoing struggle to move on, stating that they are forever trying to overcome the pain of losing this person.
The lyrics then explore a profound truth: the person who hurt them has likely never experienced the feeling of being alone. By using the phrase "if you've never been in love," the singer implies that the person they are addressing may not fully understand the depth of their pain. Love, in this context, is portrayed as an emotional connection that creates a sense of togetherness and deep vulnerability.
The singer continues to lament their loss, acknowledging that they may never regain the person they have lost. Despite that realization, they express surprise at how intensely the pain still affects them. They describe themselves as wincing through the pain, suggesting that even though the pain may subside at times, it never completely goes away. This emphasizes the enduring emotional impact of their shattered relationship.
The lyrics then reiterate the sentiment introduced earlier, emphasizing the contrast between being alone and being in love. The singer suggests that true loneliness can only be understood after experiencing the transformative power of love. In essence, they imply that the person who hurt them may never comprehend the profound emptiness and isolation that comes from losing a love so deep.
Overall, the lyrics of "Fall In Love" depict the aftermath of a lost love and the profound impact it has on the individual who experienced it. They capture the journey of trying to heal from heartbreak while recognizing that the emotional wounds inflicted may never fully fade away. The lyrics also touch on the disparity between those who have known true love and those who have not, highlighting the contrasting experiences of loneliness and connection.

I was in a similar situation as you. We separated about 2 years ago after 12 years of marriage.
All I can say is that the trauma, the numbness, the isolation...only gets worse. It gets to a point where it manifests itself in health problems - physically and mentally. I had a depressive breakdown from all the family and work stress, and after that she was labeling me with all other sorts of mental conditions. Constant disrespect and put-downs. Constantly feeling unheard.
There were some other extreme things that happened towards the end of the marriage, but all I can say is that she isn't going to change.
We have 2 kids and because we fought intensely almost everyday, the kids have witnessed a significant amount of domestic violence.
Not to say that i did not have a role to play...i did. The pain and the very deep sadness that lingered in me through all these years of marriage is real.
That's what I can share. Hope this gives you some information on which you can assess your current situation.
All the best.
