Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, which features the rollicking, energetic single "Miracle Mile," is Cold War Kids' first release with former Modest Mouse and Murder City Devils guitarist Dann Gallucci, who also handled its production alongside Lars Stalfors.
"We were shaken up, ready to let certain songs go further than before by trying new styles and arrangements, while keeping others sparse and caring more about the finished product and less about how we got there," explains frontman Nathan Willet about the ten-track album, which was recorded at the band's private studio in San Pedro, CA.
Cold War Kids are from Los Angeles, CA.
I've Seen Enough

Out of money, out of friends
I've seen enough of nothing new
The blackest stain on history or last laugh blues
Not gonna fight, not gonna cry
Not gonna shop around for one flag to fly
I've covered up my face, browbeaten shame
I've got the itch, I feel the sting
Like falling in to the deepest sleep, telephone rings
How's it going to feel when summer ends?
Out of money, out of friends
How's it going to feel when summer ends?
Out of money, out of friends
I've seen enough, the angry mob
Yeah they were unison da-da-da
They can't be stopped
Sitting at home, making plans
Don't wanna be another silly set of accident hands
How's it going to feel when summer ends?
Out of money, out of friends
How's it going to feel when summer ends?
Out of money, out of friends
In Cold War Kids's song, "I've Seen Enough," the lyrics reveal a sense of disillusionment and exhaustion with the current state of the world. The opening line, "how's it going to feel when summer ends?" suggests the passage of time and the inevitability of change - perhaps change that the singer is not prepared for. The subsequent line, "out of money, out of friends," reinforces this idea of isolation and lack of resources.
The lyrics "I've seen enough of nothing new" express a sense of monotony and boredom with life - the idea that the singer has experienced everything there is to experience and there is nothing new under the sun. The lines "not gonna fight, not gonna cry, not gonna shop around for one flag to fly" suggest a sense of resignation and disengagement - the singer is no longer willing to expend energy on things that ultimately don't matter.
The verses of the song also touch on themes of shame, regret, and a desire for escape. The lines "I've covered up my face, browbeaten shame" suggest the singer is hiding from past mistakes or decisions they regret. The line "like falling into the deepest sleep, telephone rings" implies a longing for escape, but ultimately, the reality of the world intrudes on that desire.
Overall, the lyrics of "I've Seen Enough" suggest a sense of weariness with the world, a feeling that everything is the same and nothing will change. The singer is tired of fighting or crying or trying to find a sense of purpose. It's a simultaneously bleak and apathetic outlook on life.
