On the Bean
Coleman Hawkins & Fats Navarro & Thelonious Monk - Bean & boys Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Doubled the pack and I sampled the stack
Can you handle the math bust it down
Traveled a path that I happened to pass
Adventure could last hold the crown
Troubled the lass couldn't surmise her past
Please just answer me back like a clown
Fumbled the sack pop a bubble no tack
Future muddled and black pace around
Off of a bean and I melt in the summertime
Honey my bee cause she sweet just like clementine
Sad to see me with your girl when it's Valentines
Suddenly free she adore me a pal of mine
Off of a bean and I melt in the summertime
Honey my bee cause she sweet just like clementine
Sad to see me with your girl when it's Valentines
Suddenly free she adore me a pal of mine
Peppered no jack and I severed the latch
Need a medal to match hit the ground
Better to blast so I left it the past
Got a question to ask drip or drown
Blessing at mass leave em guessing alas
Not a peasant will pass sacred vow
Deader than Drac got the lead in the back
You said you would match where's the ounce
Off of a bean and I melt in the summertime
Honey my bee cause she sweet just like clementine
Sad to see me with your girl when it's Valentines
Suddenly free she adore me a pal of mine
Off of a bean and I melt in the summertime
Honey my bee cause she sweet just like clementine
Sad to see me with your girl when it's Valentines
Suddenly free she adore me a pal of mine
Buttered the bread and I summoned the dead
Could've doubled the dread counting up
Another in bed had a sudden regret
Theres trouble ahead bounce that butt
Someone had said if you love it to death
Make enough of a mess bust that nut
Stuttered instead and mumbled the rest
Made a subtle regress packed her stuff
Off of a bean and I melt in the summertime
Honey my bee cause she sweet just like clementine
Sad to see me with your girl when it's Valentines
Suddenly free she adore me a pal of mine
Off of a bean and I melt in the summertime
Honey my bee cause she sweet just like clementine

Sad to see me with your girl when it's Valentines
Suddenly free she adore me a pal of mine

I'm teared up listening. Hawkins is fully alive in his horn. Monk loved the Hawk and vice versa! Just read Kelley's fascinating Monk biography, enlightening but very disturbing. Great music.
