Comsat Angels Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

More things than you have time for
More dreams than you can use
They fill up all the sky
And fall into your eyes
Which ones today?

It looks like somebody here is dreaming
Funny things hanging in the air
Some have names
Some have numbers
Some are empty
And it's hard not to stare

More things than you have time for
More dreams than you can use
They fill up all the sky
And fall into your eyes
Which ones today?

It's getting pretty crowded here just lately
They pile up to the ceiling, wall to wall
Some are games
Some are phrases
Some are crazy
Why you keep your dreams to yourself?

More things than you have time for
More dreams than you can use
They fill up all the sky
And fall into your eyes
Which ones today?

Look out, here they come
More love
More money
More everything

More love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Comsat Angels' song "More" are reflective of the overwhelming amount of possibilities and choices that life presents. The singer is addressing someone who seems to be burdened by the excess of these options. The line "more things than you have time for, more dreams than you can use" suggests that there is an abundance of opportunities available to this person, but they feel unable to take advantage of all of them. The "funny things hanging in the air" and the numerous unnamed and numbered possibilities add to the chaos and confusion of decision-making. The repeated question, "which ones today?" reinforces the idea of constant choice and the need to make quick decisions without knowing the full scope of what is available.

The song speaks to the universal experience of decision-making, specifically in a world where we are constantly inundated with information, options, and possibilities. The singer is addressing someone who may feel overwhelmed by the endless choices in front of them. It is a reminder that we often have more than we need or can handle, and that sometimes it is important to prioritize and make choices based on what truly matters to us. The metaphor of dreams filling up the sky and falling into our eyes speaks to the idea that the possibilities are all around us, and it is up to us to choose which ones we want to pursue.
