Never Surrender
Corey Heart Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just a little more time is all we're asking for
'Cause just a little more time could open closing doors
Just a little uncertainty can bring you down
And nobody wants to know you now
And nobody wants to show you how

So if you're lost and on your own
You can never surrender
And if your path won't lead you home
You can never surrender

And when the night is cold and dark
You can see you can see light
'Cause no one can take away your right
To fight and to never surrender

With a little perseverance you can get things done
Without a blind adherence that has conquered some
And no body wants to know you know
And nobody wants to show you how

So if your lost and on your own
You can never surrender
And if you're path won't lead you home
You can never surrender

And when the night is cold and dark
You can see you can see light
'Cause no one can take away your right
To fight and to never surrender

And when the night is cold and dark
You can see you can see light
No one can take away your right
To fight and to never surrender
To never surrender

Oh, time is all we're asking for
To never surrender

Oh, you can never surrender
Time is all we're asking for

Overall Meaning

Corey Hart's song "Never Surrender" is about persevering through difficult times and never giving up, even when everything around you seems hopeless. The song speaks to the importance of having the courage and determination to face adversity, and to keep fighting despite the odds.

The lyrics express the idea that a little uncertainty and doubt can be all it takes to bring someone down, but that with a little more time and perseverance, things can turn around. The song encourages the listener to keep pushing forward, even when others have given up on them.

The line, "And nobody wants to know you now, And nobody wants to show you how" speaks to the feeling of isolation and loneliness that can come with struggling through challenges, but the song reminds us that we still have the power to fight and to never surrender.

Overall, the song is a powerful anthem of hope and encouragement, urging us to keep going and to never give up on our dreams, no matter how difficult the journey may be.

Do Not like THAT TERM:

"ONE HIT WONDERS"

Prefer the Term RARE GEMS...

1986 i was beaten really bad by my stepfather. i packed a gym bag, and with 98 cents in my pocket, i ran away from home at the age of 16. and hitchhiked from Michigan to California to start a new life. i can still remember thumbing on the highway while singing this song to myself. this song got me through some really hard times when i was a kid.

My grandfather did the same - ran away from his abusive parents. He lived a decent life. Anything for peace.

I'm almost 50 years old and struggling through opioid withdrawal, trying to come clean and by the grace of God I will never surrender and overcome.

@jsgirl713

Been there. Tried so many times on my own to quit. Withdrawing is pure hell. Needed physical and emotional relief so bad I would start again. Vicious cycle. Due to mental illness I have had since a teen I had to be hospitalized(opioids contributed to mental instability but hospitalized multiple times before w/o opioid addiction). While there I got for treatment for addiction. I realize not everyone has access and means for professional help. If you do take advantage of it. My boyfriend quit on his own. I didn’t have what it takes. All that to say “never surrender”. Wishing you the best. I know the pain you are experiencing.

@jsgirl713

Addiction does not care about age. Knowing I am 52yo means I can relate to you even more.

@Spectrefox1313

You came in this world without it you don't need it. Self control discipline all you need. You got this if you want it.
