You Know It
Corky Corcoran and His Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you know what is means to miss New Orleans
I miss it, each night and day
The longer I stay away
Miss the moist covered vines
The tall sugar pines
Where mocking birds use to sing
And I like to see the lazy Mississippi
Are hurrying to spring
The mardy grass memories
Of creol tunes that fill the air
I dream of Orleanders in June
And soon I'm wishing that I was there
Do you know what is means to miss New Orleans
And there is something more

I miss the one I care for
More than I miss New Orleans

Trombonology Erstwhile

One of my all-time favorite sessions -- by a truly all-star group. Allan Reuss and Dodo Marmarosa, in particular, are two of my favorite musicians; fans of either or both should not miss these four sides!

MARKMANIATT

Can I add to the above an example of
‘perfect’ Swing drumming. This is as good as anything ever recorded.Fatool and Reuss were truly in the genius class.

MARKMANIATT

Nick Fatool’s little bit of drum business @ 1:02 is off the scale brilliant!!!

Jonathan Stout

His fill when brand breaks into 4 on "What Is This Thing Called Love" from the same session is right up there.

Love your guitar work Jonathan.
Most swing rhythm guitarists are understandably mesmerised by Freddie Green but Allan was more than his equal
and deserving of much retrospective study.
Your work to preserve this giants legacy is much appreciated.

I’m a drummer with 45 years behind me but love classic swing rhythm guitar.Casting aside the guitar chair in later years was an understandable economy but a great loss in many bands.
Keep flying the flag dear boy 👍
By the way.Dont forget Carmen Mastren in the mix!
