(2) Crown of Thorns were a blast of melodic rock fresh air when they crashed onto the scene in the mid 90's. The dynamic pairing of vocalist Jean Beauvoir and former Shalamar guitarist Micki Free.
AOR melodic rock band Crown of Thorns featuring Jean Beauvoir. Toured with Bon Jovi and Van Halen.
(3)Crown Of Thorns was one of the forerunners of the "disco/synth" influenced techno sound, albeit with a "punky" edge, that would become all the rage a decade later. They made their first album appearance on the Illegal Records collection The Defiant Pose in 1983 with "Gone Are The Days." Their debut EP followed in the US later that year.
In 1984, five more songs appeared in the UK only, in various 12" and 7" combinations: "Kingdom Come", "Guns In The Name Of God", "World Radio", "Diamond Jim" and "No Man's Land". The band's output seems, abruptly, to have ended there. An anticipated debut album never materialized and the band soon faded from memory, reduced to nothing more than an entry on William Orbit's resumé...
Kill
Crown Of Thorns Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It flows through our hearts
And gives us strength
It's time to show christianity
That DEATH is reality!
That everything must die!
Kill the priest - Yeah!
Metal strikes - All mercy dies
Kill the priest and burn the church
The total destruction of your god
Crucify and rip him down!
Rip him from the cross!
Ohh - Kill the priest
Kill the priest - Yeah!
The lyrics of Crown Of Thorns's song "Kill" convey a strong and vehement rejection of Christianity and its symbols. In the opening lines, the lyrics describe how metal music, often associated with power and intensity, is in the air and flows through the hearts of the band members and their fans. This energy derived from metal gives them strength and determination.
The lyrics then express a desire to confront and challenge Christianity, making a bold statement that death is the ultimate reality. The phrase "kill the priest" is repeated throughout the song, symbolizing a deep-seated anger or resentment towards religious figures, particularly those within Christianity.
The following lines depict a violent imagery of destruction. The metal strikes with no mercy, resulting in the killing of the priest and the burning of the church. This intense destruction is aimed at dismantling the very foundation of the Christian faith, symbolized by the church and the priesthood. The lyrics emphasize the desire to bring about the total annihilation of the Christian God, expressing a profound rejection of Christianity and its beliefs.
The final lines of the lyrics express a call to action to crucify and rip Jesus from the cross, the ultimate symbol of Christian suffering and redemption. This act signifies a complete rejection and disregard for the Christian narrative and beliefs, suggesting a desire to eradicate all traces of Christianity and its influence.
Overall, these lyrics convey a strong and aggressive attitude towards Christianity, rejecting its values, symbols, and figures. The use of violent and destructive imagery emphasizes the intensity of these sentiments, expressing a desire for the complete elimination of the Christian faith and its practitioners.

Overcast of anger
In an underworld of pain
The guilt outweighs the blame
Twisted roots of anguish
Taste the blood
Of a broken heart
Deceived then torn apart
Now I'm nailed
Through the hands of despair
There's no escape
I'm too far gone to care
I bear this cross alone
Just doing my time
Under a crown of thorns
'Till I die
Broken wings of angels
Cannot save the tortured souls
Adrift out in the cold
Unforgiven demons
Wear the scars of acid rain
The moth draws near the flame
I'm shattered far beyond repair
There's no escape
I'm too far gone to care
Now I'm shattered
Too far beyond repair
There's no escape
And I'm too far gone to care
I bear this cross alone
Just doing my time
Under a crown of thorns
