The … Read Full Bio ↴D'Sound is a Norwegian pop band, formed in Oslo, Norway (1993).
The band members consider D'Sound as a modern band where all three of them play equal roles in fronting the band. D'Sound was formed in 1993 when Simone, Kim and Jonny had their first rehearsals in a damp Oslo basement. The band hit the Norwegian charts with the single ”Real Name”, topping both sales and radio charts.
Their debut album, ”Spice of Life”, was subsequently released at the beginning of 1997, and established D’Sound as a band of major significance on the Norwegian music scene. Their fusion of elements from acid jazz, soul, funk, pop and drum’n’bass created a distinct and international sound, deservedly praised by both critics and the record buying public. The record was nominated for two ”Spellemannpriser”, the Norwegian equivalent to the Brits and the Grammies. In the singles chart, D’Sound enjoyed success with singles like ”Smooth Escape” and ”All I wanna do”.
At the end of 1998, the follow-up ”Beauty is a Blessing” was released, featuring an even heavier influence from drum’n’bass and modern soul. The record was another major success, resulting in a Spellemannpris for ”Best Norwegian Pop Group” in 1998. The singles ”Ain’t giving up” and ”Down on the Street” became massive chart busters both sales and radio wise, with "Down on the Street" even entering the UK club charts.
”Beauty is a Blessing” has gone platinum, even though the album was never given international release. D’Sound is long since established as one of the best live bands in Norway.

and picture this
you and I on a pristine beach.
Open up and I'm still here
What you feel when I'm oh so near.
I learn from the words
I give till I burst
to whatever it takes
Close your eyes,
and be a fool
Dream the dream,
while we play it cool
oohh oh oh
We're close,
baby you're so close,
close to me
Feels like
I'm meant to be close,
baby you're so close
close to me
What if I touched you
I closed my eyes instead
and I believe and
I praise myself
we're close
baby you're so close
close to me
close to me
Close your eyes
and picture this
how we shiver
when we first kiss
it's a secret and
it's a chance
it's the rhythm
of how we dance
you promise me nothing
but when you are close
your pheromones tell me
what words do not know
close your yes
just be a fool
dream the dream
while we play it cool
oohh oh oh
We're close,
baby you're so close,
close to me
Feels like
I'm meant to be close,
baby you're so close
close to me
What if I touched you
I closed my eyes instead
and I believe and
I praise myself
we're close
baby you're so close
close to me
close to me
mmm-mm
feelin' it
feelin' it
dreamin' it
dreamin' it
wanting it
wanting it
oohh
standin' so close
I feel you so close
I want you so close
you're standin' so close
I feel you so close
I want you so close
oohh oh oh
We're close,
baby you're so close,
close to me
Feels like
I'm meant to be close,
baby you're so close
close to me
What if I touched you
I closed my eyes instead
and I believe and
I praise myself
we're close
baby you're so close
close to me
close to me
to mee-ee
ohh oh-oh oh oh
to me
The lyrics to D'Sound's song Close To Me paint a picture of two people, who are physically close to each other, enjoying each other's company. The singer asks the listener to close their eyes and imagine two people on a pristine beach. When they are close, the pheromones take over, and their bodies communicate what words cannot express. The singer is giving it all to make things work, but the meaning of love is obscure.
The singer explains that they learn from the words, but not the mistakes. This line means that although people may say and do things that might hurt, it does not mean that they will do it again. The singer gives it their all in the relationship, and they are willing to do anything that it takes to make it work. They are so close to making it work that they can feel it.
The chorus of the song repeatedly says "We're close, baby you're so close, close to me." The repetition of the phrase emphasizes the fact that the two people are incredibly close to each other emotionally and physically. The song ends with the singer saying that they are feeling it, dreaming it, and wanting it. They feel so close that they believe that they are meant to be together.
