Signed in May, this year, he’s the seventh artist to join the cutting edge roster of Sweat it Out members. Others include Gameboy/Gamegirl, Act Yo Age, KillaQueenz, Yoland Be Cool, and Pablo Calamari. When Sweat it Out received his EP, four originals, there was no question whether or not to sign him. Snapped up instantly for pioneering the nu-disco sound, he’s booked his ticket to the top. June 2009 saw the release of Style, his debut EP, picked up by DJs around the world including Italian (and now UK-based) talent Phonat. Signed to East London label, MofoHifi, Phonat loved Style so much he remixed it for the Style remix EP. With remixes expected out from label mates Pablo Calamari, Yoland Be Cool and Act Yo Age, shortly, he’s the DJ/producer to watch this year. No doubt! Already climbing the ropes, his music combines keyboards, old drum machines, and records from the 80s, as well as his own Dcup special touch.
Already being played on the national party circuit his remixes have also been picked internationally in the UK, Europe and Asia. His distinct sound has been perfected over the years – he pushes boundaries, plays venues because he wants to, not because he has to. He’s created “his own kinda style, not like the rest” – watch out Australia Dcup’s about to change the way you move.

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life
DCUP Lyrics

Last night a deejay saved my life, yeah
'Cause I was sittin' there bored to death
And in just one breathe he said
'You got get up, you got get up, you got get down girl'
You know you drive me crazy, baby
You got me turnin' to another man
Baby, why you leave me all alone
And if it wasn't for the music
I don't know what I'd do, yeah
Last night a deejay saved my life
Last night a deejay saved my life from a broken heart
Last night a deejay saved my life
Last night a deejay saved my life with a song
You know I hopped into my car, didn't get very far, no
Because I had you on my mind, why be so unkind
You got your women all around, all around this town
But I was trapped in love with you and I didn't know what to do
But when I turned on my radio
I found out all I needed to know
Check it out
Last night a deejay saved my live
Last night a deejay saved my life from a broken heart
Last night a deejay saved my life
Last night a deejay saved my life with a song
Last night a deejay saved my life
Last night a deejay saved my life from a broken heart
Last night a deejay saved my life
Last night a deejay saved my life with a song
Hey, listen up to your local deejay
You better hear what he's got to say
There's not a problem that I can't fix
'Cause I can do it in the mix
And if your man gives you trouble
Just move out on a double
And you don't let it trouble your brain
'Cause away goes trouble down the drain
Said away goes trouble down the drain
Well, alright
Dub time
Last night a deejay saved my life
There's not a problem that I can't fix
'Cause I can do it in the mix
'Cause I can do it in the mix
In the mix, in the mix, in the mix, in the mix
In the mix, in the mix, in the mix, in the mix
In the mix, in the mix
The song 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life' is about the transformative power of music, specifically the ability of a DJ to change the course of someone's night or even their life. The lyrics are a testament to the importance of music in our lives, as the singer describes how he was saved from boredom and heartbreak by a DJ who played the right song at the right time.
In the first verse, the singer is sitting alone, bored and unhappy, when the DJ speaks directly to him and tells him to get up and dance. This simple act of encouragement changes his mood and lifts him out of his funk. In the second verse, the singer is heartbroken and alone, until he hears a song on the radio that speaks to his situation and helps him to understand what he needs to do. The chorus repeats the idea that the DJ saved his life, both from boredom and heartbreak, with the power of a song.
The bridge of the song offers some advice to listeners who may be struggling with personal problems. The DJ tells them that there's not a problem he can't fix, and that they should 'move out on a double' if they're having trouble with their man. He urges them not to let things get them down, as 'away goes trouble down the drain'.
Overall, 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life' is a tribute to the transformative power of music, and the role that DJs can play in shaping our emotional experiences. The song is a reminder that music can connect us to each other and to our own emotions, and that sometimes all it takes is the right song played at the right time to change our lives.
