Overall Meaning

The song "Give Thanks for What You've Got" by Da'Ville is a call to appreciate and be grateful for the good things in life. The singer addresses the listener, asking if they know what it's like to go without basic necessities like food and shelter. He contrasts this with the listener's own life, where they have a house, car, money, and never run out of fuel, yet fail to give thanks for these blessings. The singer draws attention to the plight of fatherless children with hungry faces who go unnoticed by those who are better off. The lyrics point out the need to be thankful for what one has and to extend help to those in need, thus making the world a better place.

In the first verse, the singer describes the listener's privileged life and their failure to acknowledge their blessings. He emphasizes the fact that the listener does not know what it's like to have no food to eat or nowhere to sleep, which makes it even more important to be grateful for what they have. In the second verse, the singer adds that the listener takes their life for granted and has a negative outlook. They don't show kindness to others, even their own family members, and are self-centered in their beliefs.

The bridge repeats the message that blessings can be taken away at any moment, and it's crucial to be thankful for them today. Finally, the chorus repeats the message of the song, urging the listener to appreciate what they have and help those in need.

What a TUNE!!! Western society needs to listen to this tune, as stressful as it may seem at times the reality of it is we have it soooo easy in the developed world, when we stress about not having what our next door neighbour has across the other side of the world there are children dying every day because of the lack of all the things that we DO have that we also take for granted!
