Freedom
Da' T.R.U.T.H. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

At times like this I wonder if God is even there
And if so, do He really care?
I mean there's so much going on in this world that we live in
Seen the gift of life taken from those it has been given
I'm thinking, we hold on to faith 'cause that's religion
Misled by the same leader failing to see our vision
Failing to deliver the very things that they promised
Feeding the people lies, we mistake them for being honest
I've never felt the need to vote
Who's to say the man elected is the key to hope
People flocking to ballet boxes trying to make a change
But the way the system is setup it's a set up, it's strange (C'mon)

If anybody's listening this is my cry for help
They're slaughtering our children in this race for power and wealth
Why I scream (FREEDOM)
Free us from these shackles that are holding us down
(FREEDOM)
For too long we've been hurting so I'm screaming aloud
(FREEDOM)
Lord, would you save us from ourselves?
(FREEDOM)
If you're listening this is my cry for help

How the actions of a few could affect a population
Of over a million, think of the children that we're raising
They look to us for help and yet we're seeking the same
It's in our nature to point a finger when looking to blame
When in reality what it takes is a change from within
Seeking Babylon and yet we're quicker to sin
We turn right around and ask the Lord to forgive
Repent for every evil, then do it all over again
What a twisted cycle, I'm reminded of the struggle
My city had to pick itself up from the rubble
Tried to move on, but something's holding us back
Being the very same events I wrote about in these raps

If anybody's listening this is my cry for help
They're slaughtering our children in this race for power and wealth
Why I scream (FREEDOM)
Free us from these shackles that are holding us down
(FREEDOM)
For too long we've been hurting so I'm screaming aloud
(FREEDOM)
Lord, would you save us from ourselves?
(FREEDOM)
If you're listening this is my cry for help

Social instability, greed and opposition
Shouldn't be the concern of a nation in our position
When our economy could barely stay afloat
Politicians politicking, only concerned with votes
Schools close down, while jobs are hard to find
The world is moving forward as we linger behind
Is it fair? Outsiders interfere, do they care?
Offering aid, but my people are in need of prayer
There's a war going on outside, who's really dying?
A child in a village going hungry while mother's crying
Turn a corner around Victoria, what do you find?
Sisters selling their bodies to strangers for a peace of mind
As time goes late nights become darker
Peace talks fall through, there's no honor
Days pass, guns blast, I'm feeling bothered
Could this be the end of a nation a king fathered?
I refuse to believe this is the end
So instead I seek guidance from a friend
Knees to the floor, head to the sky
As I ask God why (Why?)

Overall Meaning

In β€œFreedom,” Da' T.R.U.T.H. touches on various societal and political issues, expressing his frustrations and calling out for change. He questions whether God is present in a world full of injustices and wonders if He cares. He acknowledges the existence of false leaders who promise but never deliver the change they pledge. He also criticizes the political system that is rigged against the common people and highlights the plight of children who are being sacrificed in the pursuit of power and wealth. Despite all these challenges, Da' T.R.U.T.H. posits that there is hope for humanity if people take responsibility for their actions and seek God's guidance.

The song touches on several thought-provoking themes that are relevant to today's society. One notable feature of the song is the way in which it exposes the hypocrisy of those in power and highlights the failure of the political system. The theme of social injustice is also explored as Da' T.R.U.T.H. highlights the plight of the impoverished, marginalized communities, and children who suffer as a result of the actions of the powerful. The need for people to seek answers from God is also a recurrent theme in the song.
