In January 2007, after a stint in the Peace Corps, Moore decided to make a bold move in his music career by sending his unsolicited demo to Sub Pop Records. Moore's pensive yet optimistic songs caught Sub Pop's attention, and he soon had a record deal.
Moore's 2008 debut album, Stray Age, was recorded with the help of several highly regarded artists in Los Angeles, including Petra Haden, Jesca Hoop and producer Joe Chiccarelli. The album's gentle folk style and understated complexity help distinguish Moore as an artist to watch.
In 2010, Moore joined with fellow Kentucky musician Ben Sollee to record an album entitled Dear Companion, which was produced by and also features Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk.
In 2011, Moore released a gospel album, In the Cool of the Day, which was inspired by an old in-house Steinway piano he played during a studio session at WXVU Radio in Cincinnati.
In the Garden
Daniel Martin Moore Lyrics

While the dew is still on the roses
The voice I hear
Falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And the joy that we share
As we tarry there
Nobody else has ever known
He speaks and the sound of His voice
All the birds hush their singing
And the melody
That He gave to me
Is in my heart just ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy that we share
As we tarry there
Nobody else has ever known
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy that we share
As we tarry there
None other has ever known
The lyrics of Daniel Martin Moore's song In The Garden are deeply spiritual and convey a sense of intimacy with the divine. The first verse begins with the singer entering a garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses. This immediately sets the scene for a tranquil, natural setting that is conducive to spiritual exploration. The voice of the Son of God is heard, and the nature around the singer seems to respond to it, perhaps indicating the divine presence suffusing everything.
The second verse talks about the communication between the singer and the Son of God. He walks with the singer, talks with them, and affirms that they are His own. The joy that is shared in this interaction is like no other, leaving the singer feeling privileged to have experienced it. The third verse emphasizes the power of the Son of God's voice, which has the ability to silence even the birdsong. The melody that the singer receives is seared into their heart, ringing out continuously.
The song essentially captures a moment of intense connection between the singer and the divine, highlighting the beauty and peace that can be experienced in such a moment. The garden as a setting suggests the presence of nature and beauty, while the voice of the Son of God emphasizes the divine and spiritual aspect of the experience.
