Zabadak !
Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Zabadak, Zabadak
Karakakora Kakarakak
Zabadak
Shai Shai Skagalak
Zabadak,...
Look for meaning not in words
But in the way you're feeling
If it's love we'll understand
For love is all revealing

Like a rhythm like a spell
It sets your soul in motion
Love that's sure could rule the world
A tide to turn an ocean
Zabadak
Karakakora Kakarakak
Zabadak

Shai Shai Skagalak
Zabadak, . . .

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich's "Zabadak" are cryptic and enigmatic, characterized by a series of nonsensical phrases and a hypnotic, rhythmical chant. The song begins with the recurring refrain "Zabadak" and a series of seemingly senseless syllables, which are repeated throughout the song. The lyrics urge the listener to seek meaning not in words, but in the way they feel, emphasizing the power of emotions to reveal truth and understanding.

The second verse continues with an emphasis on the significance of love, which can be seen as the central theme of the song. The lyrics describe love as a force that can "rule the world" and "turn an ocean," a tide that can move mountains and create powerful transformations. The song's chorus returns with another round of the "Zabadak" chant, reinforcing the idea that the song is more about mood and feeling than concrete meaning or message.

Overall, "Zabadak" can be interpreted as an exploration of the power of sound and rhythm to connect people through shared emotions and experiences. The song's hypnotic repetition and nonsensical phrases create a trance-like effect, encouraging listeners to connect with each other and their own inner selves on a deeper level.

Called my new kitten Zabadak after this song, eventually got shortened to 'Zabby'. She died at the age of 22 in 1989 when I was 35. Pretty good innings for a cat. Great songs from Dave Dee and co.
