I am a longing and I'm growing
I am a silhouette
I can feel it
I'm nothing
And I'm living a life
A sad wreck of a life
One day, one day, one day, it'll change
One day, one day, one day…
One day, one day, it's always the same
I thoung the world was for all
I took a piece of it
I wanted to belong
And they said it was wrong
They said: “let it be!”
They said it's not for me
Well, they can go to hell
A sweet tasting hell
I'm not sorry…
And one day, one day, one day, it'll change
One day, one day, one day…
One day, one day, it's always the same
And I sat on a bench
And I looked at the world
And I felt like a king
Yeah, I felt like a king
A king of nothing
A king of nothing
But yes, there's reason to breathe
and there's reason to see
and there's reason to feel
and there's reason to live
And here's a reason:
One day, one day, one day, it'll change
One day, one day, one day…
One day, one day, it's always the same
One day, one day, one day, it'll change
One day, one day, one day…
One day, one day, it's always the same
One day, one day, one day, it'll change
One day, one day, one day…
One day, one day, it's always the same
The song "One Day One Day One Day..." by David and The Citizens is an emotional and reflective piece that deals with themes of longing, despair, and hope. The song begins with the lyrics "I am a shadow, I am a longing, and I'm growing, I am a silhouette, I can feel it, I'm nothing." These lines evoke a sense of emptiness and despair, and convey a feeling of invisibility and insignificance. The singer feels like he is nobody, and that he is just a shadow of the person he could be.
In the chorus of the song, the singer expresses his hope that one day things will change for him. He repeats the line "one day, one day, one day" three times, emphasizing his strong desire for a better life. However, the repetition of this line also highlights the fact that despite his hope, he feels stuck in his current situation, and that things never seem to change.
Throughout the song, the singer reflects on his feelings of isolation and his struggles to find his place in the world. He acknowledges that he has made mistakes and has been hurt by others, but he also recognizes that there is still reason to hope and to continue living. The song ends on a note of optimism, with the singer acknowledging that there is a reason to live and that one day things will change for the better.
