I went into the chandler's shop some candles for to buy,
I looked around the chandler's shop but no one did I spy.
I was disappointed and some angry words I said,
Then I heard the sound of a (knock,knock,knock) right above my head. (2x)

Well I was slick and I was quick, and up the stairs I sped,
And much to my surprise I saw the chandler's wife in bed;
And with her was another man of most gigantic size,
And they were having a (knock,knock,knock) right before my eyes. (2x)

When the fun was over and done and the lady raised her head,
She was quite surprised when she would see me standing by the bed.
"If you will be discreet, my lad, if you would be so kind,
I'll let you come up for some (knock,knock,knock) whenever you feel inclined." (2x)

So, all you married men take heed, if ever you come to town,
If you should leave your woman alone, be sure to tie her down.
Or, if you would be kind to her, just sit her right there on the floor,
Mind give her so much of that (knock,knock,knock) she doesn't want any more. (2x)

I knew I remembered seeing this performed live and the cast having such a fun time with it. I almost thought I was crazy cause It’s not on the album lol

They played this warming up for the show. A highlight to an unbelievable show!

Misha Writer

Loved the atmosphere. I was up on stage right until the last second and it was amazing. Great idea about having the bar on stage!

Khristina S

The premise for this song is a traditional "renaissance-faire" song...can't wait to see this on stage in Buffalo come March!

Okay so... I love this musical, but I cannot seem to figure something out. When I saw it in Denver, while it was on tour, just before the show started with "Leaving" and after this, they played another song. It was sung by the man who played Guy's father (who also plays the mandolin) and it was SO beautiful, but since it wasn't in the program, I don't know the name of the song, and I would LOVE to know. Anyone have any ideas?

Note how there isn't one indecent lyric or direct reference to anything dirty in this whole song.
Centuries of Catholic moralism has made the Irish very creative at dodging indecency.

Witness that great Irish word 'feck'. The vowel change meaning it's not swearing so you don't have to tell it in confession!

@sirknight1399 But of course all substitute swears become real swears at some point;
