What would be a good aternative is to see inarius gets redeemed after his years of torture, he turned into a better Angel or worst, he becomes a bad guy and they show us how he escaped making the story more consitent. Furthermore, they could make him awar the event that took place before (eg, diablo invading heaven, Mathael become angel of death..etc). I doubt he knows the heaven were attacked?
I would have let Lilith take Mephisto's essence for an alternative view
The prime evil will always come after sometimes.
Another point would be a meeting between Him and Tyreal? I would like to see this since Tyreal became a human maybe inarius will have a change if he listens to his (boss)
Story wise, Diablo may be repeating its self but there are so many ways to make it interesting. It is more about the unique interactions and what if scenarios.
It was a bit dissapointing to see Inarius's ending go so fast after he has been teased for his come back. It is unclear if he is dead or his essence is now trapped in hell?
We can always speculate

Lilith was just an absolute masterpiece here. Design, voice acting and her story is just wonderfully executed. It's really hard for me to see her as a bonafide villain even with the mountain of corpses shes left behind. But the ending though. Don't tell me it's Diablo I ending all over again.

I think when you are in the drowned temple or something Elias explains Lilith as beyond good or evil. I think the ending of Diablo IV was meant as a tragedy. It didn't matter that you killed Lilith and in the end you've probably made it far worse than before.

Yeah, the way Lilith's death it wasn't like the other prime's death where the character stabs them and they burst into flame or anything but here we get her pain from losing her son to what would happen to the world she and Inarius created. However she did killed Donan's son and caused so much suffering just like Inarius did. For Lilith, I see her as the corruption in humanity and for Inarius, leading the fanatics to where they would even kill the main characters at the end. Otherwise, Diablo 4 is indeed a tragedy rather then a battle of Hell vs Heaven.

I would say her story was wonderful if she didnât try her damnest to alienate the horadrim and completely avoid contact with the wanderer.
The story was too convoluted. Lilith pointlessly created spectacles which drew attention to her; and the Andariel summoning was pointless.
Inarius was supposed to be her foil, but he was played so over the top from the start and had next-to-no impact on the plot or playerâs expectations.
They had some interesting ideas: Lilith causing a crisis in Scosglen to produce someone capable of defeating Asteroth.
But so much of it was mishandled, and the game played out predictably as a result.
