Coming Back
Dead Lemming Lounge Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where you're down
They will follow
We can box ourselves into
All do tell to be
Someone else because we hate ourselves

If they fall
We suspect you
Grab so hard
You left the bruise
Spinning around
I forget why I'm in it
What was I thinking

I wanted to see the same
I wanted what you became
You want me to interpolate
I need to rearrange

Coming back to me
It's just not a part I have seen
Coming back to me
Thought what I shouldn't be

Understand tonight I've got this all coming back to me
Understated time I've wasted all coming back to me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dead Lemming Lounge's "Coming Back" explore the themes of conformity, self-hatred, and confusion. The opening lines, "Where you're down, they will follow. We can box ourselves into all do tell to be someone else because we hate ourselves," suggest a sense of peer pressure and the desire to fit in with societal expectations. The use of the word "box" implies a restriction of individuality and the suppression of one's true self.

The second verse delves deeper into this theme as the lyrics describe the pressure to conform through the use of the pronoun "we" and the suspicion that comes with those who may attempt to break away from societal norms. The line, "Grab so hard, you left the bruise" indicates the pain and force that conformity can cause. The chorus provides a hint of a desire for change within oneself, but it is unclear what this change would be, as the following lines describe confusion and uncertainty.

The line "I wanted to see the same, I wanted what you became" speaks to the pressure to fit in and follow the same path as others. The desire to "interpolate" suggests an attempt to fit in with others, possibly at the cost of one's own individuality. However, the closing lines of the song hint at a realization and understanding of the self and the time wasted conforming to societal norms.

Overall, the lyrics of "Coming Back" highlight the struggle to balance conformity with individuality and the confusion and self-hatred that can come with it.

@@jpmc271 While the state may convey the private rights (jus privatum) associated with
tidelands, it may never convey the public rights (jus publicum), and the private
owner may never interfere with the public’s right to access tidal waterways and
their shores adjacent to their property. While the private owner does have the
right to use the conveyed property for the approved use, they must also be
aware of the special nature of the lands and the public trust rights bestowed
upon them.

Tidal as defined by NJ state code is:
Tidelands, also known as riparian lands, are all lands that are currently and formerly flowed by the mean high tide of a natural waterway. Barnegat Bay, a naturally tidal body of water, is an example of tidelands. However, New Creek, a tiny tidal stream that flowed through the city of Newark a century ago but has since been filled in and built over, is also an example of tidelands. New Jersey contains an extensive network of tidelands, both big and small.

Meaning if they are affected by Natrual tides, they are considered tidal waterways. You can see this clearly with the debris along the waterway indicating there is a high tide.
