Denny Laine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time
Maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I'm amazed at the the way you pulled me out of time
And hung me on a line
Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you

Maybe I'm a man and maybe I'm a lonely man
Who's in the middle of something
That he doesn't really understand

Maybe I'm a man and maybe you're the only woman
Who could ever help me
Baby won't you help me understand

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you're with me all the time
Maybe I'm afraid of the way I leave you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way you help me sing my song

Right me when I'm wrong
Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Denny Laine's Maybe I'm Amazed express the singer's overwhelming love and appreciation for their partner, who has seemingly transformed their life in a way that the singer cannot quite comprehend. The song begins with the singer acknowledging how amazing it is that their partner loves them consistently, all the time. Despite this, the singer admits to feeling a certain level of fear; scared of how much they themselves love their partner.

The lyrics "Maybe I'm amazed at the way you pulled me out of time and hung me on a line" could suggest that the partner has helped the singer move beyond their own present and past experiences and has given them new meaning or direction. Additionally, the singer recognizes their own need for their partner, stating "Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you."

The second half of the song sees the singer again questioning themselves, wondering if they are just a lonely man in the midst of something they don't understand. The singer then addresses their partner directly, calling them the only woman who could truly help them. Finally, the song ends with the singer expressing gratitude towards their partner for helping them through the process of songwriting, even in their moments of being wrong.

Overall, Maybe I'm Amazed is a simply-written song that conveys a powerful message of love, gratitude, and admiration for one's partner, highlighting the impact they have had on the singer's life.

I think Wings ended at the right time. They changed drummers three times, the changed lead guitarists three times. They went out on a decent album (London Town). It was good that they never made it into the 80's where it wouldn't have been the same. Denny's role was always greatly overlooked but Wings would not be the same without him. I'm sure Paul knew that.

This quote from Wiki says everything you need to know.

"Wings had 12 top 10 singles (including one number 1) in the UK and 14
top 10 singles (including six number 1's) in the US. All 23 singles
released by Wings reached the US top 40,
and one double-sided single, "Junior's Farm"/"Sally G", reached the top
40 with each side. Of the nine albums released by Wings, all went top
10 in either the UK or the US, with five consecutive albums topping the
US charts."

We are wondering how old you are.. and what kind of a household did you grow up in ..that you're actually asking us to list them...?
You must be pretty young and have grown up in a void.. I feel sorry for you ... sounds like your parents' taste in music did not include Rock ..... SOMETHING went WRONG ..BUT WE CAN FIX THAT.

There are so many JUST from THE 60s ALONE :

Where does one even start : The Beatles ,The Rolling Stones, The Who, Blind Faith , Cream , Moody Blues ,Jethro Tull, the Pink Floyd, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Doors , Bee Gees ( early material ), John Mayall Blues Band , King Crimson , Crosby Stills Nash & Young , Frank Zappa and the Mothers, The Byrds , The Animals , Buffalo Springfield , Grateful Dead , Steppenwolf , The Yardbirds , Emerson Lake and Palmer , Procol Harum ,Led Zeppelin .
Genesis ( early.. mostly when they still had Peter Gabriel ).. some of these bands didn't make it big until the 1970s but were created in late 60s... including Black Sabbath !

And this list is incomplete and does not even include the bands that were created in the 70s.. there are a myriad of EXCELLENT bands in the 70s... incredible Legends... but now WE PASS the the BATON on to YOU .

Become rock and roll EDUCATED and DELIGHTED.. most of these can be found on YouTube for free.

and once you have been on the path of the golden bricks of devotion to rock and roll perhaps you will pass on the Baton to your friends and others. HAVE FUN listening .

(There actually have not been many Beatles songs on here but hopefully now that a deal was made with the Beatles and their remaining estates with Vevo you will be seeing more and more Beatles songs here )

I think it is a giant oversight that Wings isn’t inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. I understand that McCartney is in there twice already as a Beatle and solo, and I haven’t checked but Denny Laine might be in for the Moody Blues, but not as Wings. Fact is, if Wings had the kind of career they did and the members weren’t already known quantities, they would have already been inducted. Hell Band on the Run is a great enough album that it alone should have guaranteed a place. Time to get these guys in before they up and all die off.

@Karen Elizabeth 🤔🤔

Michael Sconiers

@The SNES Man I think that is correct, and if you think about it, if you exclude the Wings catalog from McCartney‘s post Beatle output it definitely takes a step back…

@FairMinded1
It shouldn’t have been an induction for including McCartney’s Wings as that’s technically not his solo material despite having wrote all/most of it, others were in the band Wings. That would be to say Wings was McCartney’s back-up group & in as much as someone would think that, that’s not correct.

FairMinded1

@Sean McCready That is a question for McCartney.

Sean McCready

@FairMinded1 I don’t think so. He has released 19 solo albums and I believe 7 with Wings. If he were being honoured for wings as well, why weren’t any members of wings asked to be involved in the induction ceremony.
