She's Fire
Diane Warren Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She sets off all the fire alarms
When she walks in the room, uh
Leaves you in a pile of ashes
With one look at you, uh
Her lips, her dress both devil red
She'll make a mess of you
She comes to slay, she runs the game
And she don't play to lose
And she'll knock you off your feet, yeah
And she'll drop you to your knees, yeah
But she's coming home with me, yeah
(That's my baby)

She's fire (she's fire)
She's fire (she's fire)
But somehow she's so smooth
She's mine (she's mine)
She's mine (she's mine)
But she's gonna drive me loco
All night (all night)
All night (all night)
Everything she do
Every single move
That's why (that's why)
That's why (that's why) (oh, yeah)
Yeah, she's fire (uh)

Yeah, as Santana plays the melody
I cry with his guitar, the vibrations that it's sending me
Friends tried to warn me I ain't hear what they was telling me
Like in the movie "Blow" when Johnny first saw Penélope
Yeah, she's the type to leave me left for dead
'Cause somehow she's always ten chess steps ahead
Sendin' paragraph texts and I get left on read
But all is fixed and forgiven when she gets in bed

Uh, she be driven me the craziest
Cost me my sanity from all this time spent chasin' this
Get what you pay for, but do I want to pay for this?
Had me in my head I ask myself am I okay with this, one

Uh, is my perspective skewed?
Feel like I'm stuck on her, I feel like I'm glued
But, not to be misconstrued
'Cause I would change my whole life to better suit your mood

She's fire (she's fire)
She's fire (she's fire)
But somehow she's so smooth
She's mine (she's mine)
She's mine (she's mine)
But she's gonna drive me loco
All night (all night)
All night (all night)
Everything she do
Every single move
That's why
That's why (that's why) (oh, yeah)
Yeah, she's fire

She's fire
She's fire
She's fire

She's fire
Ella es muy caliente
She's fire
Que me ta volvindo loco, negra
Everything she do
Every single move (uh)

She's fire (she's fire)
She's fire (she's fire)
But somehow she's so smooth
She's mine (she's mine)
She's mine (she's mine)
But she's gonna drive me loco
All night (all night)
All night (all night)
Everything she do
Every single move
That's why (that's why)
That's why (that's why) (oh, yeah)
Yeah, she's fire

(Whoa, whoa)
(Uh)
She's fire
(Yeah, whoa, whoa)
Yeah, she's fire
(Uh)
(Whoa, whoa)
(Uh)
She's fire

(Whoa, whoa)
Yeah, she's fire

Overall Meaning

The song "She's Fire" by Diane Warren is an ode to a woman who is fierce, confident, and alluring. The song begins by describing how the woman sets off fire alarms and leaves people in a pile of ashes with just one look. She wears devil red dress and lipstick, and she's out to slay and run the game. Despite all that, the singer can't help but be drawn towards her. The guitar and vocals of Santana also add depth and a fleeting sense of longing to the song.

The lyrics describe a tempestuous relationship where the woman has the power, and she keeps the singer guessing. While he's aware that she's driving him crazy, he can't help but be drawn towards her, no matter the cost.

Overall, "She's Fire" is a celebration of a woman who is in control of her life and sexuality. It's a song that acknowledges female empowerment while also acknowledging the struggles that come with being in such a powerful relationship.

The thing I like about Santana is that he's always trying new music genres, this is actually good. This man is a legend and he only cares about music and passing the old vibe to new generations

@denisecrowe55

Well said 👏

@digidrum2003

I remember when Carlos went into fusion(like his friend Miles Davis did)back in the 70's and some of his fans did not like it,but i believe it was some of his greatest work.......the man is a legend and i told my wife that the day Carlos passes away it will be the only time i will cry for someone that is not family.

@richardpaniagua5881

@@digidrum2003 I have told my girlfriend (another huge fan) the same thing regarding "crying" when he passes. Though Carlos proved his greatness early on with the first 3 albums, he sealed it with "Fusion" type releases like Caravanserai ('72), Welcome ('73), Borboletta ('74) and Lotus ('74). He returned to "Rock" in '76 with Amigos and Moonflower ('77) and was able to translate the musical languages he learned from Miles, McLaughlin and others to become an even better guitar player. With 50+ years under his belt now there is no stopping the man! Carlos will not be retiring anytime soon..

@digidrum2003

@@richardpaniagua5881 Oh yeah....sounds like we are both huge Santana fans....all the albums you mentioned i have on original vinyl as well as others. Cheers!!!

@johnrobertson586

@@richardpaniagua5881 Absolutely. Caravanserai is the peak of a creative mountain, with the adjacent albums approaching its brilliance! The previous ones being more visceral, the subsequent more spiritual. Peace and love always.

@denisecrowe55

Isn't that the Truth!!

@ChicagoBeaver

Try listening to "Europa," or "Moonflower," those songs will make you cry! The way he plays those notes on those songs, it's like something spiritual and heavenly!
