Love's Here Now

by Distant Cousins & Lindsey Ray
There won't always be tomorrow
All we have is here and now
Life is sweet but time is borrowed
All we have is here and now
the closer I get to the gold,
the less I know
Learning to hold
the good and the bad
and make peace with them both
-Chorus-
Oh, nothing is owed
Don't waste a second on all that you cannot control
Got to let go
Sometimes you can't tell the dark from the light
when you're standing so close
-Chorus-
I read your letters and I crumble like the pages
So much I never got to say
All we have is here and now
The song "Here & Now" by Distant Cousins, in collaboration with Lindsey Ray, is a beautiful reminder that life is fleeting and to cherish the present moment, rather than worrying about the past or future. The opening lines set the tone of the song, conveying that tomorrow may not come, and thus, all we have is the present moment. The lyrics highlight the transient nature of life, where time is limited, and every second counts. Life can be beautiful, but it's also borrowed and precious.
As the song progresses, the lyrics urge us to let go of the things we cannot control, as much of our time is wasted worrying about things that may never come to pass. The chorus hammers home the message that nothing is owed, and we shouldn't waste a single second on things that don't matter. Sometimes life can be confusing, and it's hard to differentiate between light and dark, but we must make peace with both good and bad things that come our way.
The song concludes with a poignant statement about missed opportunities and lost time. The singer regrets not saying much to the person addressed in the letters, and the sentiment is a reminder to use words wisely while we have the chance. The title of the song "Here & Now" is a testimony that every moment is essential and should be savored.
