Two Different World
Don Rondo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nothing matters if I am yours and you are mine.
Two different words,
We live in two different worlds
For we've been told,
That a love like ours
Could never be.

So far apart,
They say we're so far apart
And that we haven't
The right to change our destiny.

When will they learn,
That a heart doesn't draw a line.
Nothing matters if I am yours and you are mine.

Two different worlds
We live in two different worlds
But we will show them as we walk together in the sun,
That our two different worlds are one.

When will they learn,
That a heart doesn't draw a line.
Nothing matters if I am yours and you are mine.

Two different worlds
We live in two different worlds

But we will show them as we walk together in the sun,
That our two different worlds are one.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Don Rondo's song "Two Different Worlds" speak of two lovers who are told that their love can never be because they come from different worlds. The singer acknowledges that they are different, living in two different worlds, but still believes that their love can conquer any obstacle. The line "nothing matters if I am yours and you are mine" captures this sentiment perfectly. Despite the societal expectations and judgments they face, the singer believes that their love is worth fighting for.

The singer boldly questions when society will learn that a heart doesn't draw a line. They recognize that love is powerful and knows no bounds, and that it is a force to be reckoned with. The song ends on an optimistic note, with the singer stating that they will show the world that their two different worlds can come together as one.

In summary, the song is about two lovers facing societal expectations and norms that suggest their love cannot be. However, the singer believes in their love and refuses to let societal expectations dictate their destiny.

Such a beautiful song that I had totally forgotten till here I am watching a 1960 Bob Hope Special on YouTube in 2022 and Patti Page and Bobby Darin start singing it. But I'm not sure I remember this recording since I was only born in '51.
